Very poor service, the situation is getting bad with time, workers trying very hard, but it is clear a managment problems

Acceptable airport, though small in size and number of daily flights.
Disagree with many bad comments I read. The only issues to me are: long distance to Alexandria downtown (though the way to airport is clear and easily accessible) and the lack of a decent cafeteria!
Recommend to book a uber driver. cheaper, safer and faster!response / report this review -

With reference to Alexandria Airport - before Borg El Arab it was the only airport in Alexandria and it served well. It is very close to the city and I am surprised it was not developed instead of a new build at Borg El Arab. It would certainly serve better for internal flights. The government should spend some money on upgrading.

Their MALE security checked my bag and personal belongings without using gloves. In all airports it's a FEMALE officer who would check another woman's personal belongings. It's disgusting that stranger's hands go through your stuff without even wearing gloves. In addition to that they have long lines at the arrival customs. Those who know officers in the airport don't wait in the line and go straight to the customs. They do it very openly without a shame. When you leave the baggage area there is only 1 line with 1 or 2 officers checking your passport and sometimes luggage. People rush without obeying the line rules trying to squeeze themselves at the front. Toilets are dirty.

Travel through this airport for years, i could tell that:
- The way to the airport is absolutely awful! A lot of small bumps, and what make it worst there is no light enough in the road and some part of it completely dark!!!??
- It is chaos airport, regarding to the security:
There is no enough check for the bags, the stupid office boys could add many bags at once on the xray check, and i am pretty sure the guy who check all the bags can't verify the safety of all of these bags at once.
- Also they always ignore the metal detector check and only use the manual check with hand, as a rotine check, even if they find and object in your pocket they don't verify, if it safe or not.
- And for sure the toilets are bad!
- This the only airport that they won't allow the people who come with you say good bye or wait for you to enter the terminal!?!? So they have to wait in either the hot weather or cold weather, have no information about the flight information.
- just notice also that there are some birds inside the terminal, have no idea how they live inside at night, in what supposed to be a closed air conditioning terminal!!!???
Regarding to the people who just give more than 1 star, mostly they never been to airport before or a better airport!
My review is based on comparing this airport to more than 30 airport i used!response / report this review
