Staff is helpful. They provide lockers. Good wifi and a good computer downstairs. The kitchen is fine, altough it could be cleaner/tidier. The beds are comfortable. Location is perfect if you want to visit the city center

Amazing staff - - and a great little hostel. Free coffee/tea until 11am, a pool table and a laid back, authentic atmosphere. Also, location a stone's throw from the centre.

Friendliest staff I've ever met, very good location, reception open 24/7, possible to have breakfast - what else to ask! Only problem for me were people who stayed there for months or even years - I personally hoped to meet some cool travelers, go out with them, have few beers, but people who literally lived there were not the people to do it together with. Therefore the hostel's name is quite misleading. Then again, if your interest is only having a place to sleep, not meet other travelers, then there should not be any problems.

Plenty of space inside house, you could work on laptop just in hostel without disturbing or find cafe; but while you wanna chill out with other travellers, easier to jump in too.

From the moment I walked into the hostel Bella and Bish helped me a great deal, making me feel very welcome. The hostel is great value for money and is surprisingly large inside , with a large kitchen and billiards room based out of a renovated world war 2 bunker!

P: I had a friend named William Theodoracopolpus. He had been studying to little effect at the Naropa Institute (a Buddhist school for trust fund kids), working toward his Bachelor of Divine Access. William would show up at your house -- and this is Buddhists all over -- eat your food, bathe, take your clothes, and disappear for another six months. Once we found a reference to his uncle, "Taki Theodoracopolpus, international figure". On the return from a trip to Copenhagen, he told me after awhile you get tried at looking at pretty blond boys. I think the Dutch are better looking.

H: This is so bizarre because not 60 seconds ago I was discussing Taki’s arrest and sentence for cocaine smuggling!

P: I tried to delete this because I forgot to put in the source of the reference, which was Vanity Fair. Bunches of questions, but do you know what happened to William? He started using heroin, and I lost contact with him. Thankfully that's a drug I never fell for.

It's typical you know for you to one-up my stories. I've just about had enough of it. And I imagined in writing it that you would know of Taki. Or claim to. Since it's not my story to tell, well I'll tell it anyway. Hussein's relation, perhaps also an uncle, was traveling through Heathrow. At customs, he dropped a bindle onto the ground. When the customs agent bent to retrieve it and hand it to him, the relation said "Oh you can keep it. It's not very good anyway." And while I'm embarrassing Hussein, I also remember him returning to Middlebury from spring break. He had been to the Black Sea and came back with a magnum of DP, a metric quantity of Beluga caviar, and all the cocaine that all the dorm could do all night.

H: I never knew William. I mentioned the extraordinary coincidence but am constantly reminded by how much detail (sometimes concatenated) that you can recall from abstract readings. I’ve always needed a narrative to fuel my memory, hence the constant stories and links.

Methinks you give me too much credit as a smuggler. The DP and caviar may have been purchased from characters from the Black Sea (I only went there much later) but caviar is a Caspian delicacy. London had these things available relatively cheaply back in the day particularly as Iranian flight attendants sustained their extended families by this smuggling trade.

The Peruvian marching powder was domestically purchased – I had conniptions when a friend traveling with me to Egypt smuggled some in his trouser cuffs. I watched Midnight Express a dozen times in a week as a child and was quite traumatized by Oliver Stone’s hyperbolic retelling of that experience

P: Thirty-five years later, staid and conventional, you may retract. But in the event, I was there.

H: Got it. It is Theodoracopulos BTW.

I just did some online research and saw that William is alive and may be living in Budapest as an artist. He is Serena Boardman’s brother-in-law. His father is the fellow that successfully sued Donald Trump for kicking him out of his golf club without compensating him.

P: I had a client, he's dead now, (you know opoulos is a perfectly standard transliteration of that patronym) named Harley Baldwin. He went from running the popcorn stand in downtown Aspen to being the single largest landholder in the downtown area. His place as an amalgam of 12 former units above the hardware store that was twice featured in Architectural Digest. I was trying to do a loan for him, a big loan. He gave me access to all his financials. It turns out he was borrowing money from the local bank at less than their cost of funds. Needless to say I could do nothing. But one thing showed up. On his credit report was a judgment, never paid, to the benefit of Michelle Phifer. I may have the spelling wrong, again. Why spell check when I have H. The story goes, he had sublet her a co-op on the Upper West Side, and when she went to move in, apparently against his instructions to be discreet, she was turned away having failed to obtain board consent.

It is a nice small hostel, the staff were very friendly. Besides it is possible to check in even with a dog :)
The common areas like kitchen and bathrooms weren't that clean, but it is cheap and for us, the last point as well as the fact that dogs are welcome, were more important to us.

I stayed in united backpackers for three nights and had a great time. The hostel is located just outsite the walled city in a perfect place near restaurants, shops and bars.
The hostel it's self has recently been renovated and the rooms look great they are spacious and all have security lockers for your valuables. The kitchen and lounge are massive they even have a pool table and on demand movies. Beers are available onsite and you can book numerous tours at reception including the famous pub crawl.
Staff are kind and always willing to help with all my questions, it's was a please to stay here.

Thanks for the effort team and see you again in the future.

This is an okay place to stay one or maybe two nights. All necessary facilities are there (kitchen, common room, towel rental, small bar / fridge at the reception).
But: I can't see any real commitment concerning the condition of the hostel. Love is missing!!
Staff is funny and helpful. Room was a bit uncomfortable, noisy street in front the window. Do not recommend for a longer stay!

Nice location, really friendly staff but the hostel is bad equipped! 3 showers and 3 toilettes for 50 or more people are not enough at all.

Amazing place, great staffs. Especially Chuck, Alex and Nezar. Everyone's pretty friendly. Rooms are good but the best thing about this place is the lobby. Kitchen is open 24 hours. There's always someone at the reception. No curfew.

Nice place, close to the center & they sell beer! They're in the process of fixing showed and bathrooms on the first floor, but it's a clean and welcoming place.

Super helpful staff, nice facilities including a great big common area with a pool table. Old town is very close by, and so is a 24/7 hour store. Very happy with my stay there, BUT; your manager needs to step up her pool game until next time!
