Overall this is a fantastic hostel. The grounds and houses are beautiful, everything is high quality. They clearly put a lot of effort into creating the hostel. The location is incredible. In the mornings you get stunning views of Cotopaxi and other surrounding mountains/volcanoes. The cost is a bit high, but I feel that we got our money’s worth. The food is delicious and you can eat as much as you want. The included activities were fun. The only negative (and it is pretty big, hence the 4 stars) is that they seriously overpack the hostel. On our last night there they had set up tents and laid mattresses in every open safe just to fit everyone. It was a shame. If not for the overcrowding, this would hands down be the best hostel we’ve stayed at.

Great place to either relax or be active in nature with a great atmosphere. The hostal is surrounded by picturesque nature. The staff is very friendly and makes a great effort. There are lots of great food, being vegan is no big deal, you should just maybe tell them more than once.

Loved this place. Although its cost is over our budget. The place is very warm and welcoming with good wholesome food. The kitchen is in constant motion. The staff were all great to be around and super helpful when needed.
The location has magical views and makes for easy access to many different trails.response / report this review -

It's great but you need to know what you are going to get. No WiFi, great common areas and table games, fireplaces everywhere since there is no other heating option. Eating time is fixed so you eat with everyone else and the one course there is.

BEST HOSTEL EVER! It's really a special place. The location of the hostel is amazing with a view over the vulcano Cotopaxi (if the weather is good). The rooms are clean and the beds are really comfortable in the dorm rooms, they even put on the fireplace in the room to make it a nice temperature in there. The service is also amazing, food really delicious and they even do all the dishes. Also you can eat as many bananas and banana cake as you want. Just go there!

Fantastic hostel, with the most beautiful view, and with great activities and staff. Very community based and you will get to know everyone. The only reasons for 4 star is they have 0 flexibility on activities. You pay if you do them or not. And it also looks very bad when they overbooked and staff had to sleep on sofas and outside in the cold. They rooms aren't 100% as advertised either, but still very nice

This place was awesome. What an incredible experience! The hobbit holes were a dream come true! The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the hot tub. I recommend the water be changed out daily and the tub cleaned. It was pretty nasty every time we went over there. If the hot tub was clean, it would be 10 stars!

Absolutely fantastic hostel It's clear why this was voted Hostel of the year in Ecuador.
At first it may seem expensive but when you consider this includes some of the activities, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, it's a steal!
The food is VERY GOOD and the portions are very generous (and I eat a lot).
The staff are always on hand to help and will ALWAYS be as helpful as they can be!

The compound is just an amazing place and would be an excellent place to relax for a few days enjoying nature and the surroundings. Rebecca, Victor and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and good amount of it. (Endless bananas). The trips really made the experience. For the extra cost you can go horseback riding or mountain bike down Cotopaxi or do some amazing hikes. If you have some money to spend spend it all here you wont be disappointed.

Amazing place. Perfect cotopaxi views. Nice volunteer staff. Good food. Although a bit pricy for backpackers budget it is worth every penny. Also loved the dogs and hobbit house :-)

I couldn't recommend this hostel more highly, the location has an unbelievable view of the volcano. The food they cook is delicious. You'll want to stay here no less than two nights.

I have to admit, it has been a while since my stay in Secret Garden Cotopaxi, but it remains today as one of my all time favourite travel destinations and I have been a lot of places. The lodge and its included meals were perfect and dining together with all the guests was a lot of fun. We got lots of use out of the hot tub after our long hikes and waking up to the view of the volcano from the accommodation's lush garden was spectacular. Hoping to make it back there one day!
