Incredible building with a terrace and 360 degree view from the roof. Such an amazing spot to watch the sunset. Lovely accommodating staff. We stayed two separate occasions and would do it again!

Es un hostel muy agradable y comodo , te invita a quedarte en la terrasa y pasillos para leer tomar un cafe una cerveza lo que sea! Un desayuno completo y una atencion muy respetuosa y comoda, una buena ducha caliente un wifi rapido una atencion de diez. Lo recomiendo.

Muy lindo, todos los cuadros ahi, fueron pintados por la dueña, ubicado en el mismo centro de Quito, solo que no había agua caliente a las 4:30 am, :( y el wifi es muy bueno.

Full disclosure, I just found this review in my drafts. I visited in June 2016.
Once I stayed at a place so gross that I had to throw away my clothes. This place wasn't quite that bad. The only reason we didn't move is because of the hassle. We suffered for two nights and gravely regret it.
We chose this place for colonial charm and an excellent location. We expected it to be a clean hostel with basic amenities. It was not. If you are considering staying here, please read the list below. I'll try to be objective.
1. Dirty towels and pillows that smelled like greasy hair. Most of the linen was clean, but some was musty. I don't think they clean the blankets very frequently but they do clean them sometimes because we saw them drying on the line.
2. Odor. A room so stinky that our bag of overripe guavas improved but did not cover the odor.
3. Noise. We expected this given its location along the trolleybus line, and it was manageable.
4. Hot water. Everyone else was able to take long hot showers. You do need to wait a while for it to heat. I had about 30 seconds worth.
5. Dirt. We spilled some wine on the floor and I wish I had a photo of the sludge that came up when I wiped it. This hostel won an award from trip advisor in 2014, and I don't think they have cleaned the floor since.
6. Security. They leave the keys out downstairs and upstairs but they charge for lockers. The building IS well secured all day.
7. Price. This place was far more expensive than the other hostels but neither as clean nor as comfortable.
8. Breakfast. The food was fresh and tasty. We left well-provisioned and ready to explore. Breakfast service begins at a leisurely 8am. All of the ladies who worked in the café area were helpful and kind.
9. Lobby. The bathrooms were clean and nice to use. The chairs are dirty and stained in the common areas.
10. Computers and Internet. Both lobby computers failed to work. The Internet was spotty in the rooms but strong in the common areas.
11. Proprietor. The gentleman was in his room much of the time instead of at either desk, so he wasn't available for help when we needed a map, clean towels, or a taxi.
12. View. The terrace courtyard shown in the photos on websites is roped off to prevent guests from entering.
13. Other. The private baths share a window area at the top with the adjoining room. You can't see anything but you sure can hear.

숙소 중정이 멋있다. 주인 부부가 운영하는데 아침을 8시부터 제공한다. 그전에 먹으려면 주인장에게 사정을 해야한다.

We booked this online and fairly last minute and were very happy with it. The staff spoke excellent English, were friendly and helpful and the building itself was something interesting and different. The room was clean and comfortable. If possible I'd recommend trying to get a room away from the road, as it was quite loud with buses and so on, but it's a loud city so to be expected. Decent WiFi and nice views from the top level

Excelente ambiente.. Pase muy lindo el servicio muy bueno y el personal atento desmontando mucha calidez. Disfrute mucho todo pero en especial el desayuno muy rico 😋 el pan. Gracias Hostal Quito Cultural.

We booked 1 night at Hostal Quito Cultural on a 3rd party website but they didn't receiver our reservation until the day after we arrived. The room was also supposed to have 6 beds but their largest room was only 5. Overall the hostel was clean and the service was great. The best part of our stay was the proximity of the hostel to the Centro Historical and the rest of Quito.
