I rented the three bedroom half of the villa (Villa Ixora), there is also a two bedroom half, or you can rent the whole villa (5 bedrooms). It is ocean front (you can hear the waves crashing against the rocks from your bed), and very comfortable. Air conditioning in all of the bed rooms, and the living room is airy enough that you don’t need it (though there are ceiling fans). A security guard patrols the premises from 7pm to 7am, and there is also a house keeper who can cook meals for you for a small fee if desired. It is the closest property to the beach (maybe 50 meters away). The road leading up to the villa isn’t paved, but we were able to get here just fine. While Samana is about an hour further away from the airport than punta cana (~3hrs vs ~2hrs), it’s worth it if you wanna stray off the beaten path and just relax on the beach in a small sleepy town. Because the living room is pretty open to the outside the occasional bug does wander in from time to time, and there are mosquito nets but the odd mosquito will wonder in from time to time. In addition, there are cats that roam the premises.
