I stayed here in the spring of 2015. The taxi driver had a hard time finding this place - there was no distinct address or sign on the building. The photos they lost are all of the surrounding area and NOT where you will be staying! I paid for a private room but they 'lost' my reservation and I was bunked with other people who ended up stealing some of my clothes. The water pressure was barely even there and almost no hot water existed in the place. The neighborhood is very ubsuns as well. I would never recommend staying here. If you're traveling alone, FORGET IT.

I don't want to go on a rant because I tend to dismiss reviews that are extreme.
I want to be clear though that due to this hostel's lack of overall lack of hygiene, overcrowding, and dirty water, I would not recommend this place. It is not fit to be run as a hostel.

Moreover, besides the poor health conditions, there are hotels with running water and private rooms for 35-40 a night elsewhere in Bavaro.

We paid $70 USD (with the ITBIS tax)a night for a room with a shared bathroom that is WITHIN another domitory room. The most I have ever paid for a private room with a shared bathroom. And across the way was another "private" room within the dormitory room. The first door to entire the apartment was left open all the time- completely unsafe. Makes sense its left open because no one understands the room within rooms situation because it's absurd.

In addition, in the dormitory two people slept on the couch to those 6 in the bunk beds, and the third bedroom with a bathroom, their bathroom was completely broken, making it a grand total of 14 people sharing ONE bathroom.

For an entire day there was no hot water at all, which would be ok- it is DR- EXCEPT that we paid so much. Then the water didnt work at all--none- for an entire day- and when it did go on, it was salt water - meaning it wasn't cleaned, it's street water. Therefore, we used contaminated water for bathing, and I ended up sick with a "hot tub rash" from the water.

I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. We should get our money back. The compliment I can give is that there is a lovely man named Jose who runs the entire place. He and the woman who cooks breakfast are Saints.

I was so excited when I arrived at the hostal. The outside of the building is beautiful. Once inside, me and my girlfriend, statarted to get unconfortable with the lack of organization. They did not have the room we had booked. They explained that they were overbooked. How does this happen? What is the point of booking through their web page. The hostel told us that our room was not advaiulable after they had charged my credit card. I warned them that I would cancell payment if not placed in the right room. They gave us a new one. The next day our room was not cleaned. Towels were not changed. I asked for new towels and they explained rooms were cleaned every THREE days and not daily. The explained with unfriendly tone that "You are paying for a Hostel not a Hotel, we clean every 3 days". I have traveled extensevely and stay 80 percent of the time in hostels. Hostel does not mean dirty. They made a huge deal about giving us fresh towels and actually told me I could wash my towels myself in the top floor. For a 100 dollar room this place is overpriced. The most expensive hostel I payed for during my backpacking experience in the Dominican Republic. I feel they could be more professional and more caring. I do not recomend this Hostal.
