Manicou river resort is fantastic. Views are unbelievable.

Manicou River Resort is one of the best choices for the value minded traveler interested in a natural setting just a stone's throw from Portsmouth and a short drive from the best beach's on the Island. You can find more luxury for five times the cost but you will not find another resort in this setting at this price. The owner's bent over backwards to see that our needs were accommodated. While on the west coast overlooking the breathtakingly gorgeous Cabrits park and Caribbean coast ,which offers swimming/snorkeling, you're just an hour drive from the beautiful black and white sand beach's along the east coast road to Calibishie, a must-do day trip if you're in the area. Another 15-20 minutes will take you into pristine rainforest , and from here it's less than an hour to the Carib territory , another great day trip from the resort.
The owner's have lived on the Island for some time and were were very knowledgeable about the local culture and interesting things to do as well as the caveats that go along with any third world travel. If you're looking for a quite , reasonably priced resort, immersed in nature, not far from a number of top spots to visit, with kind and responsive service then Manicou River is well worth a week or two or even more if you have the time.response / report this review -

Authentic nature experience and eco-luxury. We stayed here for our honeymoon this year. The resort has just opened so everything is brand new. We were surprised by the size of the cottage, it is bigger than our flat in Brighton with much better views. My new wife loved the kitchen that had everything we needed to cook romantic candle light dinners. We held hands in the super king sized water bed floating under the stars with only the noise of the woodland for company.
Each morning the gardener visited with a basket of fresh fruit and flowers. He cut open a coconut and placed it on the balcony to attract the tropical birds. We were taught the trick of pinning a red flower to our shirts to attract the humming birds.
The resort is close enough to Portsmouth to be able to shop & go for dinner but far enough away to have a true woodland experience. We loved it and have many fond memories of our trip.response / report this review -
