Food - perfect - gut - loved it

Ambiente - out if this world
I had a cold herring. Would not recommend.
Seriously, it was OK. The aesthetic of the restaurant was a bit weird, like olde worlde. My wife had a schnitzel, it was fine. Kinda looked like a Bernard Matthews steak but tasted fine. I had maties, not really knowing what to expect. Would have been useful if the menu had told me it was cold but it's my own fault for not knowing what I was ordering.
Service was OK, the waiter spoke excellent English (far superior to my German anyway) but he was gone 25 minutes between us finishing our meal and asking if we wanted to pay. We didn't get chance to ask for dessert. It may be that he was extremely busy or that he could tell I nearly saw my herring again.
Old fashion and traditional german restaurant with very "local" food such as mushroom soups or "Lobscouse". Very welcoming service.
The service is the best I would say, the lady not only recommended nice German red wine, but also gave extremely detailed introduction about the dish to match the wine. The food is good too , 5 stars is largely due to awesome service. Highly recommended!
I love this place, the food is amazing :)
Food were served fast , anyway it was pre-ordered. It is quite characteristic but not so special, rather small.
Nice cosy little restaurant tucked away just of the main street near to St Pauli church. Food was great as was the service, would definitely recommend especially if staying at The Citadines hotel which is only a 2 minute walk away.
Wonderful restaurant tucked away in a little courtyard with the oldest homes in hamburg
Even though the food is more like 4 stars, and nothing especially interesting, I will give it 5 stars simply because of its sense of history and ambience. Worth showing to others, but I wouldn't do this multiple times a year just due to my preference of food. I've been here a few times, and just last week I took about 5 others there. The previous time would have been 10 years ago - and it's still as quaint as ever. This time, I brought international, world-renowned professors who have travelled far and wide. EVERYONE was blown away at the 'gem' that had been shown to them!
