Nice accommodations close to the party district. Very friendly staff and affordable prices. Included breakfast is small but acceptable.

Comfortable hotel. Rooms are slightly dated but offer all you need and which is reflected in the price. The friendly and helpful staff make it a great place to stay on a longer term. I stayed in this hotel several times and noticed recently renovation works have commenced.

The Hotel Royal exudes the atmosphere of an old-fashioned European pension. It's a little threadbare, but I prefer its laid-back but friendly staff and worn-in rugs to the slick coldness of more expensive hotels. The location is very convenient---near transport, and in the middle of one of Frankfurt's "downtown" districts (and next door to Nunu's, a pleasant late-night cafe). Finally, the in-room WiFi worked fine, though one had to get used to the somewhat cumbersome sign-in process.

Cons: Bathroom facilities were "European"---a movable shower head and an annoying toilet design. And the large bed was in fact two double-beds pushed together. But as these are features of most European hotels, I can't really hold it against the Royal. Also, you don't hold onto the key---the desk clerk holds it, and you take it from him when you want to get in, which some American visitors might find strange.

But all in all, we were delighted with the Hotel Royal, and definitely intend to stay there again next time we're in Frankfurt. The staff was delightful, the room was warm and comfortable, and the whole experience was a perfect European-vacation time.
