The hotel is at a nice place in the heart of the city. Every is reachable by foot. The building looks old from the outside, but impressive, and even older from the inside. I had a very small room in the side building. Everything looks as if it was build after the war. The bathroom has the ugliest, uncharming, brown tiling that you know from your grandma's house. There were a few bugs running around but I didn't look at the closer to deter of they came from outside or the disgusting air filter. When I arrived, the reception forgot something and called me in my room. The ringer was so loud and disturbing that I didn't recognize it as a phone ringing but the fire alarm. The breakfast is okay but I can't recommend it. For 12€ you can find something better in the vicinity. There was coffee or tea, three kinds of bread/buns, butter, a few cheeses, little meat and a small fruit salat with joghurt. Nothing bad but also nothing special. There were a few fruit flies around the salat. All in all, I can't recommend it. It was expensive and didn't provide any service worth that price.

I come here once a year from USA this is the highlight of my trip I look forward to it all year especially the goose around Christmas. Always get the house special you won't be disappointed. The sauce (gravy) is better than the 5 star place my wife worked at even she agrees.

Entering with high expectations because of requimentions, I was soon let down. From the classic dusty deco I should have known what was to follow. The gentleman that waited on us was kind but the metallic taste of the hefewiezen was not. I thought I would try a simple dish because it was served with a traditional Hessen green sauce (Grüne Soße). When my dish came out with the sauce in a cup, simi-warm beef with a dry matte finish and potatoes naked as a Jaybird, I knew I was in for a complete let down. That was exactly what I got. Unseasoned, overcooked Frankfurter bland potatoes, and dull sour cream and parley mix which I could hardly call a sauce. Enough said.

Very nice hotel right in the middle of Darmstadt. The food is very good. The people in charge are nice.

BAD SERVICE
We never had such bad service! Sure Germany isn't know for their great service but here you really get NOTHING!!!! Not just unfriendly totally rude! No word of sorry for mistakes they made I don't want to be harsh but it really looks like they are used to give a sh** about their mistakes and don't want happy paying customers!! Food was not very tasty I recommend Braustubl restaurant where we were the day before. It was awesome! We left Bockshaut restaurant without a tip and will never come back!
