Incredibly friendly gym, so affordable, good mix of machines & weights, great staff!
You forget your card at home one time after 18 month membership , you have to pay for it even if it's not lost. Doesn't motivate you to go there again!
Thank you Tobias for your answer, but the day that happened, I was there with my ID and you obviously also have a picture of me in your system.
The 2,50€ I could have paid it, but the least is to refund them when we return you the extra member card Your colleague told me it wasn't possible. What can we then do with two cards..
I'm really disappointed by this "inflexible attitude"
Good equipment and really cheap but very demotivating coming here, so I am not sure if it actually turns out to be good value for money in the end. Perhaps the best things about the place is the large group classes, which are quite fun but usually very full. Personally I now go to Kickletics and the Munich Personal Training Lounge as I feel like I get better results for the money I pay.
Price - service ratio is good.
Don't forget:
- You have to bring your own lock.
- There is only a yearly plan.
- There are no hairdryers, bring your own if you need one.
Personal is nice (incl. the manager) you can ask them for further information.
Great value for money.
The gym is in a central spot, really easy to reach.
Has all the equipment and is clean and spacious. Staff members are nice and do their best to assist, though not all of them speak English.
The thing that I like less are the showers. There are not much of them, and hardly a place to hang your towel.
Machines are good. Very crowded on evenings. Showers and changing room for the men are not clean.
Very nice place. Open 24 h, cheap, but it's very full most of the day.
Excellent price and open 24/7. An impressive selection of machines, which are usually available even during the busiest of times. They have a very large selection of fitness classes which are included with the standard gym membership. This gym is unbeatable for the price!
I have been a member of FIT STAR for the past 3 years now and I regularly train at Dachauerstrasse and Kistlerhofstrasse studios. I would list the pros and cons of the Dachauerstrasse studio below (I hope the cons are taken as constructive feedback):
Pros:
1) Decent equipment and very nice courses for a small price of 16,80 per month.
2) Trainers are very helpful and friendly.
3) Open 24 hours
4) After recent renovation more facilities have been added which is really nice.
5) Huge cardio area, so you don't have to wait for a long time for the treadmill to free up.
Cons:
1) Off all the fitness studios I have been to in my life the members here have the worst gym etiquette. No one bothers to re-rack their dumbbells or weight plates and leave them lying on the floor which often results in me roaming around the whole gym to find a set of dumbbells between sets. In comparison the Kistlerhofstrasse studio does not have this problem, perhaps the trainers here can educate the members about this.
2) The showers are really filthy which again is not a problem in the Kistlerhofstrasse branch. A fitness studio should maintain the same standards across all branches especially if the membership fee is the same.
3) I have lately noticed that the drink dispenser is often out of order and anyone can fill up their bottle from it regardless of whether they have paid extra flat rate per month for the drinks or not. This I feel is unfair to paying members.
4) Even though FIT STAR provides top notch equipment from Life Fitness I still believe that some essential equipment like Deadlifting Platforms, Hack Squat Machine, Assisted Pull Up/Dip Machines (not currently available in the Dachauerstrasse studio) is missing and your direct competitors like FITX, CleverFIT etc offer these machines at a lower membership cost.
5) I have colleagues that often visit Munich for a period of 3 to 6 months and are surprised that FIT STAR does not offer the possibility of signing a contract that is less than 12 months in duration. Even though there is a possibility to cancel the contract if they move to a place that doesn't have a FIT STAR studio within 20 km they feel like this clause is very deceiving as almost all of them have had bad experiences in the past like having proof of their relocation not being accepted and having money withdrawn from their account even after confirmation of cancellation. So they now just go to your competition who gladly offer them a limited term contract. I don't understand why you wouldn't want this extra revenue stream?
As already mentioned above please take the points listed above as constructive feedback. I will always be a dedicated member :)
Despite the issues concerning the re-styling of the building, the gym has a good ratio in terms of price/quality. It is overall clean, with agents cleaning very often in the toilets. This doesn't seem to happen too often in the showers, where people usually have to get rid of the dirt by themselves, but they are anyway in good conditions. The machines are very good, and it is usually not so much crowded. If you are looking for a cheap, not too fancy gym, fitstar is perfect.
