Our travel group stopped here for dinner while on a Rhine River cruise. We arrived about 7 pm, and the place was packed solid. Fortunately, Viking had reservations for us, so we were seated right away. When I say packed, I mean PACKED! We were jammed elbow to elbow, and people were bumping into us to get around to the tables.
The good news is that the food and beer were excellent. The Kolsch's were served in small glasses and as soon as you downed one another one replaced the empty immediately. The food was good hardly german fare, and there was plenty of it. We all loved this place. The staff is so engaging and entertaining it's almost like a tour stop in itself (maybe it is!).
When you find yourself in Cologne, I recommend you must stop by Brauerei zur Malzmuehle for an experience you won't soon forget!
If you in cologne, please come to this bar. Awesome bar with locals. You can experience real cologne beer, rub shoulders with cologne citizens and have a great time
Another local recomended restaurant. Typical and waiters very fun and professional
When you think “Germany”, you think “beer” (among other things). The most popular beer brewed by the Malzmuhle, since more than 150 years ago, is the Muhlen Kolsch. The beer keeps on coming until you place the coaster on top of the glass signaling you have had enough of the golden liquid. I opted to go for the potato soup and was pleasantly surprised; it was very tasty.
Full of local people and very crowded during dinner time. Pork knuckle was a little bit dry but tasted good. It's come with a huge size that I couldn't finish on my own. Better to reserve the table beforehand to avoid long waiting.
Tasty Kolsch and food. This place is worth checking out.
Typical german, but modernized place. Have their own Kölsch, nice liquors, and good food, even for vegetarians!
I heard that it is typical for a Cologne brewery to be not polite to the customer, but personally I think this is too much. Especially the manager of the place is really unpleasant. Besides that the food is ok. If you like lager beer you will like also their beer but this is the only one you will get. If you want any other type of beer this is not the place to go.
Classy Italian cuisine (no pizza!), great service, reasonable prices when taking quality into account. Had delicious spaghettini w/ mussels, supremely aromatic veal saltimbocca and full flavored grilled garlic king prawns. Good wine list. Best Italian restaurant in Berlin according to the concierge at our hotel. Highly recommended.
Family brewery, hotel and huge restaurant. And it's always busy in the restaurant, but not annoyingly so.
We had the Jägerschnitzel with, of course, kölsch :-)
Delicious and we had a great time.
