Nice hotel - very good rooms - but distances are quite far to go to restaurant or pool from your room
Stunning old castle that's been modernized and turned into a 5* hotel. A hidden gem 30 minutes east of Cologne. Large breakfast buffet with custom orders for those wanting an omelette, etc. Super comfortable beds, speedy wifi, and a beautiful courtyard.
I have been comming here since 8 years, at least 8 times. It was our favourite place in the area. It is quite stunning on the outside and some of the rooms are royal, but in this experience all was bad.
We stayed during a local exhibition and we paid almost 500 euro/night /room, reservation made 3 months ahead. Breakfast was not included, minibar was included but it was almoast empty, only 4 drinks, and for the first 4 nights we were declined a reservation in any of the 3 restaurants. Instead we were sent in the spanish Dali bar, where we ate some sort of very expensive fast food. When we did recieve a reservation in the hotels enoteca restaurant, the restaurant said we did not have a reservation and they made "efforts" (500 euros/night), to let us have a table. Nonetheless the food was rubbish. Italian restaurant 200 euros for 3 persons, but the food was like german, oily and what not.
The rooms were small, the window did not open because of a faulty window blind, the door needed lots of training to be opened, the shower had a faulty wall mount and you had to hold it in your hand, the sink had clogged drain, the bathroom had a vent and it did not work, and the smell stayed there for hours. There were complementary fruits, but they did not always bring them.
The radio in the bathroom did not work and there was a phone which had a very bright display and it bothered us at night.
The ac worked but it was slow and hard to adjust.
Cleanink was almoast ok.
If it was a 150 euro, 3 stars hotel, it would be very fine, but for a 5 star 500 euro per night, regular room, it is a no go.
Went for a wedding! Stunning facade! Very nice rooms and friendly staff. Not much to do in the neighboring town but a close drive to Cologne.
A beautiful place with a romantic atmosphere. We visited schloss Bensberg to celebrate a wedding and it was breathtaking. The dinner could be described as exquisite and I would definitely recommend to go there to anyone, who wants to experience something special.
A real 5 Star experience
Professional Hotel, expensive environment, everything good, but IMHO not outstanding one could expect.
Very traditional 5* Hotel in Bergisch Gladbach with charm from the 80-90s. Service is good but not superb - food is excellent but also not superb.
Dear Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg,
Thank you for at lovely stay and a meal to remember at the Restaurant Vendôme! We all felt welcome all the way from the arrival, to the visit of your wonderful spa, to the Restaurant Vendôme, to the wine cellar, to all the openminded employees, your other guests as well, and lastly to the pleasant departure. There is very little to be upset about, maybe the view from the Althoff - a little too beautiful ;)
Sincerely
Allan
Very luxury, class hotel. Gentle people, professional behavior.
Worth its 5 stars!
