A very beautiful old church in the city center. Very interesting place to visit
Ruins are on the same side of Quartmarkt as Wallraf Museum, they are surrounded by the museum. Map (unless google fixes) shows them one block away
Man findet immer wieder was neues aus dem alten Köln. Nur die Augen aufhalten 😊
This cathedral was massively damaged during WW2 and it was purposely retained as what does it look like after the war. Not a huge place to visiting but it is same impressive.
Most churches in Köln were nothing more but ruins after World War II. This one is still a ruin and now a place of remembrance for the victims of the war. Inside, there's a copy of the famous grieving parents statue by Käthe Kollwitz that she created for her son Peter that died in World War I. Joseph Beuys copied the father figure, Erwin Heerich, the mother figure. However, the alignment is different and less beautiful when compared with the original statues on the war graveyard in Vladslo (Diksmuide, Belgium).
