A must visit if you're in Larnaca.
This church is very important to the region historically, it's beautiful on the inside and the outside.
When you go in make sure you go down to st Lazarus tomb, it's down the stairs on your right when you're facing the front of the Church.
Majestic city building from outside.
Very impressive inside (wear appropriate dressing).
Closed in the mittle of the day.
Not so big but nice building. Shops, hotels. And restaurants are around it. Very convenient to all
Really old church. Impressive given it's age. There are some tombs nearby and a crypt. Worth a visit particularly if you like Iconoclast art work.
A must visit for anyone visiting Cyprus ans very popular with both Locals and tourists. Very nice photo opportunity day and night.
For tourists - a great historical site, beautiful church, St. Lazarus tomb and remains. Free entrance, taking pictures is allowed. For the ladies - wearing a skirt is obligatory, if you are in pants or in a short skirt, you will need to put a long one which is available at the entrance.
I love to see these beautiful ancient buildings, loved and cared for, in the middle of a thriving and busy city. There was a church service on, and though people were walking in and out and generally milling about inside, I thought it a bit inappropriate to be doing the touristy thing during their apparent solemnity 😕 Other than that the architecture and history are stunning 😀
A very ironic iconic place. A church built in memory of a man who first time around couldn't stay in his grave and second time around was taken from his rest.
Well kept and with little compromise to the quirks of tourism. Loved it.
A special place for Christians Orthodox. It has a good vibe, you can pray in silence and no one will disturb you. The entrance it's free.
St. Lazarus Church as you may have guessed is named for the saint from the Bible, Lazarus of Bethany. The saint features in one of the miracles of Jesus, when Lazarus was raised from the dead having died 4 days prior. The church is so named because this church is built on the site of the tomb of Lazarus, at least according to Orthodox Tradition. The tomb is in a cave which anyone is free to enter.
The church itself is worthwhile visiting. It's hard to believed the the interior was destroyed in a fire in the 1970s, but beautifully restored. As usual in an Orthodox church, the Templon has an amazing iconostasis, covered with saints and scenes from the life of Jesus and beautiful.
This is a lovely church to visit and the stonework is simply amazing. In the day it is beautiful when little by the sun and in the evening at the up lighting brings out completely different features.
It is a real focal point of the town and there are lots of bars on the square around it.
This church is open for tourist everyday. It is amazing. It has been slightly changed inside but it is still a wonderful place to visit. Also they still have holy water underneath the church where the cave if Saint Lazarus is.
Fantastic architecture, serene environment, spiritual. The square around the church is ideal for families with children. You can enjoy a meal or a drink while kids play around the church surroundings. Several restaurants and café around the square
There is not much to see in Larnaca but this is absolutely a jewel not to be missed. Need to dress with long trousers for men and have a shawl for women, but totally worth it
Lovely looking church in a nice part of the old town. The Di Vinci bar opposite is also nice
This is an interesting place. Covered in icons. Go down to the crypt to visit the tomb of St Lazarus (mind your head). Beautiful spot and worth a visit if you're walking nearby.
The most beautiful church I've seen in my 2 weeks in Cyprus. Magical.
Beautiful orthodox temple which looks like a small medieval castle. Very interesting story behind the construction of it. Also seem to be a very important place for orthodox pilgrims because of its importance. Entrance is free, but you have to wear appropriate clothes. Must see in Larnaca.
Six out of five
Great place, vivid architecture
Could use some brochures to explain about the place
There is a shop attached to it for souvenirs, nothing specific for the place itself though
A beautiful church in the heart of Larnaca. It's located close to the beach and also the shops. A very popular church with both locals and tourists.
A very beautiful Church. I love to come here and just look at the people and everything around here. Everything's busy, but not in a stressed out way. The church itself is quite beautiful although i have never been inside.
One of the only real sights in the city, it's eye catching and worth taking a look inside. Watch your head if you go down into the crypt.
This is a beautiful historic Church which is a manifestation of many miracles of God. See John 11:38-44.
Historical, good atmosphere. Great place to go for any tourist.
Nice Greek Orthodox church with st Lazarus tomb.
Beautiful church. Extremely old. Interwoven styles of East and West, and after the fall of the island under Ottoman rule half the church was used by Catholics and half of the Orthodox.
Stunning place to visit wonderfull
Especially walking around, apriciating the wonderfull architechture of the place
No trip to Larnaca will be complete without a visit here.
Visitors are free to explore freely around this small church. Women are required to cover bare shoulders, but cloaks are provided freely on entry.
