Λίγο πριν φτάσουμε στην καρδιά της τουριστικής περιοχής Πρωταρά συναντούμε το ξωκλήσι του Προφήτη Ηλία. Είναι κτισμένο σ’ ένα γρανιτένιο λόφο με σχεδόν κάθετες πλευρές. Τα τελευταία χρόνια κτίστηκε εκεί μια εκκλησία βυζαντινού ρυθμού, στη θέση του μικρού δωματίου που χρησιμοποιείτο ως εκκλησία. Για να φτάσεις στο ξωκλήσι αυτό πρέπει ν’ ανέβεις μια απότομη πέτρινη σκάλα με 153 σκαλοπάτια.

A beautiful, serene church located high above Protaras. Offers great views. Not easy to get to. No disabled access.

A church is on the hill. If you climb up there you will have a good view on the sea and Protaras.

Quite a few steps needed to get up to the church (not demanding). Church is small but nice, view is nice around.

What a lovely church. Only takes a few minutes to climb the steps but well worth it as the views are amazing. There's plenty of shade under trees and a little shack that sells souvenirs and cold drinks to be found! Worth the visit!

11th JULY 2016 - The best moment of my life, i asked my beautiful girlfriend to marry me and she said yes!!!! Such a happy day and amazing holiday!!!
This church is beautiful, we watched the sunset then in front of the arched doors i got down on one knee (to take a photo of Natalie) i then put the camera away and took out the ring, i asked and she said yes! it was such a romantic setting and perfect moment. People who saw cheered and clapped.
The view is amazing and very close to the town and two good hotels, the Mandalena hotel and the artemis hotel appartments.response / report this review -

A relatively sedate walk up quite a few steps to this tiny little gem of a Church. A beautiful building commanding spectacular views of the Protaras coastline.

Not an attraction for the unfit or infirm due to the huge amount of steps but worth the climb if you are up for it. A lovely view greats you at the top along with the picturesque little church.
