Amazing tree and very interesting old church, both are about 800 years old.
3rd century AD
It is a small chapel dedicated to St Mauri and her husband St Timothy. Visitors are free to enter inside.
Following the stairs above the chapel there is a hole in the mountain that extends till the other side and which according to the legends, St Mauri miraculously created and passed through it in order to escape from her persecutors.
It is a quiet and peaceful place where visitors are enjoy the benefits of both religion and nature. Next to the chapel grows the second oldest tree of the island and below that river Krios flows.
There is a also a restaurant outside the church which is open during the holiday months and where visitors can rest, buy food and drinks as well as souvenirs.
Peaceful place
Worth a visit. I liked the fact that there was a sign that explained something about the church and the tree
