Chill out, in great Cape Verdean style.

This Apart Hotel is not directly located on the beach line, nor on the city centre. However, it provides everything needed for a relaxing holiday.
Staff is extremely friendly and speaks English and Portuguese.

Don’t be surprised, if you find people rather “ Slow” at this resort and indeed at the entire Island. This seems to be a way of living and a very welcoming one, especially if one decides to take this trip.

Rooms are in a very good condition with minor signs of use. The Apartments are cleaned every day and towels and extra bed linen is provided as well.
Beach/ Swimming pool towels are available at the reception.

Each Block has direct access to a swimming pool with a small bar.
People on Half Board will have a small but delicious Buffet choice for breakfast. We heard many people complaining but sometimes less is better!
Dinner is “ a La Carte” and the quality of the food is simply remarkable. Staff is extremely friendly and professional.
Security: There is a lot of security personnel around the hotel and that certainly makes you feel a bit safer on the first days. After that you realise that, sal is one of the safest places you have been on the last years and kind of fell all of it, rather exaggerated.

If you decide to take a walk to the beach it takes you about 15 min. You will then be directly at the bikini beach that normally serves the other hotels near the coast line.

This is surely a great choice and fantastic to slow down and get back on track.

European style a aparthotel with everything, quite, safe and clean, walking distance from Ponta Preta surf & kite spot as from kite beach. 2km from the city center with own shuttle running 6 times a day to Sta Maria center.

The apartments are a lovely size and really well equipped for self catering. There are at least 4 pools of which 3 have bars that do snacks. The complex is huge and very quiet all in all not a bad resort to stay in.

Amazing resort. Definitely will go back. Really nice people, cozy rooms. Breakfast was as expected really really positive vibe all around the resort. Every day room cleaning. In the resort you have a mini market ,2 restaurants , ice cream shop and one pub. 3 min with a taxi to Santa Maria beach and city or 20 min walking.

If you are looking for a nice apartment style holiday in the sun then have a look at the Vila Verde complex at Cape Verde island of Sal. It is located about 15 minutes taxi ride from the airport, SID, and cost about €15. It is only a few minutes ride away from the main town of Santa Maria. The complex has hotels, apartments and villas and you can book it via main holiday operators/tour companies or via individual owners like ownersdirect or airbnb. The complex has pools dotted around all the blocks as well as pool bar and restaurants. Unless you want to there is no need to leave the complex as there are plenty of restaurants and bars, a supermarket, a bakery and takeaways. There is also tour companies, car rental, a bank and a beauty salon onsite. You can use either the local currency, escudos or euros (take 2 zeros off the local price and you have the euro equivalent). Some places accept credit cards but mostly a cash society, and note the Amex is not accepted. Overall a very nice apartment style holiday place.

Vila Verde is a lovely place to stay. While it's quite quiet the resort is improving year on year with facilities opening all the time. The swimming pools are often empty giving you the whole pool to yourself. Santa Maria is either a free bus ride or cheap 3 euro ride into central Santa Maria. No pressure from locals to buy anything with friendly people all around. Santa Maria also improving year on year with more bars/restaurants opening all the time.

Please note a review on here about drug dealers/prostitutes does not happen at vila Verde. This can be seen on the poor side of town only and not near the shops/bars or restaurants that tourists frequent.

I recommend taking quad bikes up into the hills and also an island tour which is excellent. Kite beach is a great spectacle with hundreds of kite surfers doing their thing.

Overall a great place to go on holiday

Klein Tsjernobyl. Zwembad en kamer is goed. Winkel lijkt op een winkel in Rusland. Klein en niets te krijgen. Gehele complex is een spookstad. Niet doen.

Very peaceful and beautiful place. No hassle from locals, as you're about 20min walking away from the centre (just a 3 euro taxi ride) amd even there, there's no pressure or aggressiveness towards tourists.
The service here is amazing and the most friendly. We've been to quite a lot of countries before (110!), but this one is one we'll be coming back to. Everything is squeaky clean and the very modernly decorated apartments help you get a feeling of home while still in away on a very beautiful island. All in all an experience worth the trip!

A big mistake staying here for 1 week in March 2016, due to the resort being full of drug dealers, prostitutes,homeless men and rude staff. The rooms were ok tho, that's the only good point about this resort. The resort is 2km from the Beach or the main town of Santa Maria, so it's in poor location, as the Taxi's are expensive and you don't want to walk alone to town, as you get hassled by the aggressive locals constantly!!
