Amazing place! If you're on Sal you should definitely visit the place. There are lots of lemon sharks to see. If you're travelling on a budget, here's how to get there without spending 25 euros for an organized trip. From Santa Maria take an aluager to Espargos for 1 euro. Get off at the roundabout just before the town. Walk 400m east to the hospital and from there take a taxi to Pedra Lume for 4 euros. From there it's an easy walk 2.5km along the coastline.

Glad I had my own water shoes, you will need them the shallows are mainly all sharp volcanic rock. Facilities are basic (no toilets or shops etc) it's simply a few locals that have had an idea for tourists.. They do have basic Water shoes for hire for a small fee (bit like cut down wellies) ok if you don't mind wearing the same shoes that someone has just taken off, they are rinsed in sea water that's all.
You wade out in the sea with a local as a guide (sea comes up to about your mid thighs, it wasn't suggested but stripping down to a Cossie under your clothes saves a rather damp journey afterwards, though we weren't given much time/opportunity to do this)
You simply stand in the sea and the young Lemon Sharks swim around your legs. They're not big enough to do any damage and weren't really interested in you. It was an amazing experience and I'm sure with the passing of time and as the country gains more tourist money facilities will grow and improve, but it's rather nice visiting whilst the island is unspoiled.

Bit of a slippery walk out to see sharks so need to take care also suggest you take your own water shoes otherwise you'll have to hire them when you're there and they're not the best.

Arrived and walked out into very clear warm water. We had a great guide who was full of knowledge about the Lemon Sharkswe had 4 swimming around our legs, all about half a metre long, more impressively 2 adult pairs were swimming a little further out in deeper water. Keeping a close eye on the young shark.

Apart from charging 2 euro for renting some slippers to go in the water, it was an exciting experience to have sharks swimming at your ankles

What a unique experience! Walk with sharks! Baby sharks though.

If you have a chance to visit here early morning is the best as the wind makes your view compromised a bit. Take water shoes as the rocks are very sharp or you can rent from locals for two euros.

The walk is a bit challenging! Uneven terrain and the wind can be strong too !

Underwater camera is great here the water is Cristal clear as this part is rocky / coralline and no sand is floating in the water.

You walk into the stone beach, knee high, and you are inspected by Lemon Sharks of half a meter. Swiming shoes are available for a small fee.

Stood in two foot of water baby lemon sharks swimming around in and out of your legs ..all the time you know mum n dad sharks not that far away .On out tour we had a marine biologist very exiting tour

Long, long walk, across rough volcanic rocks and coral, dangerous underfoot. We saw two fins and nothing else. Worst element of a long, poor, island trip.

Very cool place, the sharks swim close to shore and you can wade out to be close, great views. Take wetshoes or change, it's very rocky, locals offer spare wet shoes but charge 2 euros per person (which we weren't told in advance)

You buy shoes for €2. Walk out to see the sharkes. Just beware it's very rocky and you will get wet. The guides are really lovely and will help if you need a hand to steady you. Definitely worth seeing.

You get really close to sharks. The additional thrill is that you are standing in the ocean quite a distance from shore and the little sharks swim up to you a few metres away.

Get shoes from a local guide and walk out the sea. With some luck you'll see the shark fin 10-20 meters away.
