Lovely, a bit pricey on the mojitos, past glory days but still very comfortable. Lacks wall plugs next to beds, no extractor fan in bsthbath, bedroom windows don't open at all.

Super nice hotel, with an actually working bathroom. The water works and the toilet flush. The mafia mojito was probably the best mojito I have ever tasted. Way cheaper to drink in this bar than the cruise, and the drinks are not that bad.

Too bad as a US citizen you are not allowed to stay there over night.

traveled as an athlete, legally. a us citizen with a permit in 2000. visited the property. Wow !

This image is of Hotel Nacional de Cuba (bottom left all lite up). it used to be "the best place in town". Friend stay at Hotel Nacional loved it 🏌️‍♂️

Beautiful and stunning! I just had a look in the grounds and lobby plus ate dinner and went to the bar amd it is just amazing! Never seen a buliding so spectacular prior to this ❤

Formerly grand, a bit seedy now, but comfortable and in a good location. Very historic. Has several restaurants and extensive grounds.

A great atraction, you can really feel the spirit of the old times of mobsters on Cuba. The hall with the pictures of the famous people which visited the hotel is really interesting and they also serve good cocktails there. Be sure to check out the garden overlooking the sea and the trenches in them where you can have a short lesson about Cuban missile crisis

The hotel might have 4 stars and look good from the outside. Unfortunately the inside of the hotel is really in a bad shape. We had a suite and paid 1000.- a night which was definitely not worth the money. If you are an international traveler and have high standards I wouldn’t recommend you to stay there. However the rooms had a great view!

We just used the hotel for drinks and coffee and it is indeed the loveliest hotel in Havana, even though, it can get pretty pricey for guests. Keep in mind that you can only use the hotel cards for Internet and those cost 5cuc for one hour for people who are not staying there. Other than that, it is worth a visit for a few drinks and the view of the Malecon.

Did I just step out of a time machine back to 1950? What an experience!

I really did love this hotel, however, this is not 5 star, which it was advertised as. I would say it was a 4 star at a push.

This place really does have a unique atmosphere and it genuinely feels like you are in a different era. The rooms are in dire need a refresh but this somehow just adds to the experience, if that makes sense.

If you you are going to Havana I would certainly recommend this place. It is a nice short(ish) walk into the centre of town and there is also lots going on in the hotel at night to keep you entertained.

I have to say that I found the food in Cuba a little strange at times, and this hotel followed that trend. The food was ok, just ok, but stews, mince, potatoes etc. on the breakfast menu was just odd to me. Maybe it's just a cultural thing but It's not something we would eat for breakfast in Scotland.

All in all, if I was going back to Havana I would probably stay here again.

Lovely hotel, lovely grounds, fancy drinks. Sit on the lawn and think about being a 1930s movie star. No reason to go fast, just relax. (NOTE: I had a bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to walk up/walk in).

Beautiful and historical building and upscale location. Staff is mostly unmotivated and unfriendly , some are diligent and friendly like the lady that serves drink outside lobby. The Concierge is unknowladgable in English and is not keen to help guests to find solutions for their individual wishes. Breakfast is good although everything is a bit sticky and staff is usually slow for taking orders. Hotel needs maintenance in many areas. The staff in Cuban restaurant speak poorly English and though understand the orders falsely and the tablecloths are not very clean. WIFI is free but the connection is not stable. If the hotel will be maintained better it has definitely the potential to be 4 and 5 star

Hotel common areas are gorgeous - lobby, front entrance, outdoor area, shops, etc. BUT the hotel rooms are not so nice.

We stayed in 2 different rooms during our 3 day visit in February 2017 and both rooms were not clean and the bathrooms were worsethe toilets overflow every time you flush (many guests were using the lobby restrooms). And housekeeping/maintenance are not in any hurry to fix the issue.

In one room, there was a blood stain (probably a menstrual mark) on my comforter and my friend had a plastic pad under her fitted sheet (we didn't want to see why so we shared).

As a guest the wifi is not complimentary and you pay daily and you rarely get a connection. Probably because it's one of the few places in Havana you can get internet access so many other tourists congregate here hoping to get online.

However, we did visit several other hotels nearby and this is one of the nicer hotels.

Won't go back. Don't ask concierge for any help. She does not call restaurants and always a problem with reservations. Highly embarrassing. Only a handful of people actually trying to make it a 5 star. But staff is untrained and unprofessional. You can see most staff stealing or sampling food and toiletries without any reservations when they are instead supposed to be serving you as as guest of their hotel. Finally, extremely bad infrastructure. Out of hot water for half a day and paint fumes throughout the hallways that is worse than the smoking-allowed rooms. Check your safe
Some are broken. And don't even think about asking to speak to management, they really can't do much except try to wait out your stay with excuses. Not a 5 star by any standards you may be used to. Not to mention one housekeeper barged into my room at 5a, thinking I wasn't there. I personally didn't feel safe.

I can't attest to the rooms as I didn't stay here but I did enjoy a drink and a cigar on their terrace. Absolutely beautiful. Great view, peacocks, good attentive service, the epitome of luxury. You pay for what you get though.

An amazing historical site that is still up and running as it was 80 years ago. This is a must see if you are visiting in Havana. Head over there at night for live music, grab a Mojito, a cigar, and enjoy the sights as Castro and Che would have many years ago. It was the highlight of my trip to Havana.

This is the best and most beautiful hotel in all of La Habana. So much history and architecture is in every single brick, stone and marble piece that makes this hotel. If you want to see one of the long historic landmarks of Cuba, then Hotel Nacional is the place to visit. The rooms are amazing. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. The pool is huge. Take time out of your trip to visit and watch the sunset from the deck while drinking a Cuban coffee. You won't regret it. 🖒🖒

This place is a must visit. One of the best patios anywhere to relax with a great cigar and people watch. The wait staff are completely indifferent and seem happy to let guests feel like they are imposing. Expect slow service and you won't be disappointed.

A great glimpse of old Cuba - though it is completely filled with tourists ALL THE TIME (buses were lined up out front day and night). The outside area overlooking the water is stunning! Drinks and food are tourist prices, though still less than would be expected in the US. Visit the cigar store downstairs for a great selection!

We have visited for drinks and food only. It really is a must see given the history. Yes, it's a bit tired and when we were there last week the old bar was closed for an event. But you have to go to see history. And it's Cuba, so I am tolerant. The complainers should stay in Miami Beach where everything is wonderful.
