Had a great time at the resort last week. A big shout out to the band and performers and staff. They were all friendly, approachable and made us feel at home.The food was good and the pastry chef there was very creative.We were there from the 19th to 26th of April. Weather was great.!!!!! We are planning our next trip in October.

A typical Cuban three star resort. Great staff. Comfortable room. Regular fare. Disappointing beach - it was left uncleaned for 10 of our 14 days there.

Came back jan31 after 2 weeks very bad start. Put us (6) in block one should be condemned, dark and dingy, windows cracks gapping, rooms flooded when raining came through window frames and ceiling. Patio doors wouldn't open, unable to see putside sticky tack on all windows, our adjoining door painted shut. Door locks wouldn't work after being moved x 2 in block 1 and still not adequate. Did move us to block 3 it was much better after much "discussion" but second floor flooded. Main desk receptionist tried to keep putting us off by telling us nothing he could do because they we're "full". Guests leaving every day and told him so. We went over his head and asked for "Daley". Moved in 2 hours. He didn't like that snubbed us the rest of the trip and our rep wasn't any help either. House keeper one main floor by room 321 very good and really helpful . Other than that all was good. Won't be going back.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
Two weeks ago I was in this hotel with my husband and his family. Everything was fine until we went to the restaurant located next to the pool, my husband ordered 6 hamburgers to "ROBERTO" which responds in a rude and arrogant way "YOU CAN'T TAKE THEM". The response of this individual is totally out of place and even more disgusting to know that the reason is because my husband and his family are Cuban. Employees like this character are the evidence of the mistreatment to Cubans who live there who have no rights and their feelings and their thoughts are worthless. Resort is a little old but i didn't spend a lot of time indoors anyway. The beach is not very crowded but the seaweed was not always cleaned out. Not the best place for teenagers (lack of activites for age group), the crowd is mostly seniors and older adults.

The shows consisted of bingo and kids games almost the entire week I was there.
One night they had a show of dancers and music. Very disappointed from my previous stay. Food is consistent with Cuba fare, same thing daily,only modified each day to appear different. Staff was not as friendly as in the past. The public relations man, Juan, tried his hardest to make me feel comfortable, but there was little he could do.response / report this review -

My group and I stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Club Amigo. The locals here in Cuba tell me that Santa Lucia has the best sand in all of Cuba. With a great selection at the buffet, friendly staff, and clean rooms, I would recommend Club Amigo as a cheap get away for tourists, now from all over the world. This wouldn't be a good replacement for your time share in Cancun at the Mayan, but it is definitely a great experience for those looking for a resorty type of vacation, in Cuba, and on a budget.

Pool was closed and no hot water. Service at the front desk was slow and disinterested. Service from the bar staff and housekeeping staff Was quite good bit the lack of hot water and no parts to repair was cause to move. Was moved by Singing to the Brisas Santa Maria at no additional cost at the reps suggestion. I didn't have to even ask. Excellent service on the part of the local Singing reps.

We have traveled to many Caribbean destinations and enjoyed this resort so much that we returned for our 5th time for 4 weeks in January to celebrate our 50th anniversary. This is a low priced older resort on a beautiful long stretch of soft sand.
There are rooms that need repairs but there was no problem getting a great room when we told the front desk that the room they had assigned to us was unacceptable.
The Seafood restaurant has the best garlic shrimp of anywhere I have been including Red Lobster and we had a wonderful time listening to and dancing to the very talented live music group there.
We definitely recommend this resort if you are not looking for a modern new resort and we will be going back there again.response / report this review -

I have been vacationing at Club Amigo Mayanabo since January 2014, visiting 2 to 3 times a year. This year, the food was the best I have had in Cuba. One of the big reasons for returning to this resort is the staff. From Management down to the cleaners and gardeners, they are wonderful. The trick, of course is to get to now them by name. They will do anything for you and make your stay even more memorable. It is like going up to your cottage where you know everyone. Getting back to the food, the staff held an Appreciation Dinner for returning guests. It started with shrimp and appetizers. Then a very tasty soup. The main course I chose was fish. It was perfectly cooked, tender and moist. They capped it off with an ice cream sundae that was delicious. Hats off to the staff.
