Although it wasn't my first time in Cuba, it was the first at this resort. I took a chance with this resort after my initial plans fell through and I couldn't be more glad that I did. My brother met me here from another country and seeing as it was his first time in Cuba, I hoped for him to have a great first impression of this beautiful country and its great people. And Villas Jibacoa certainly didn't disappoint!
One thing that stays constant each time I visit Cuba is the spirit of the Cuban people. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and open. The staff was incredibly accommodating since day one and made it a priority that we enjoyed our stay. Scuba diving and snorkeling is phenomenal here! Great scuba diving was really my main requirement and the whole experience far exceed my expectations! Breathtaking and by far the best I've had in Cuba.
A huge thank you to everyone at Villas Jicaboa for making our stay so great and memorable. It was a pleasure to spend the week with you and I hope to be back in the future.response / report this review -

Great beach, decent rooms, and awesome friendly staff make you feel like family all at a bargain price. Food isn't the best so bring peanut butter and Imodium. Lots of food options off resort nearby too. Highly recommended.

This is a nice small resort and I liked that about it. This is the kind of resort to just relax and take it easy. If you are looking for a party resort this may not be the resort for you.
When I went I found the place clean and the staff friendly. They had just reopened after cleaning up from a hurricane and I thought they did a good job. The food was good, not a extremely large selection but I found it quite reasonable. There was always fish, meat, veggies, salad, bread, and dessert items (including ice cream every day which can be unusual for Cuba).
The buffet times for meals were 07:30, 13:00, and 19:00. So this can be late for some people. Unfortunately, there was no where to get coffee before 07:30, which for an early riser can be a bit of a concern.
Other amenities I found on the resort were:
- gymnasium
- gift shop
- tennis court
When I was there the "a la carte" restaurant was not open. We did go to a local restaurant called Mario's which was nice (but not free obviously). Mario comes with his horse-drawn carriage and takes you to and from the restaurant.response / report this review -

Stayed here for a day. The pool was very crowded and the music was way too loud and blaring. The beach is peaceful and private, but the room I was staying in was very small. The lobby NEEDS AIR CONDITIONING.

You don’t come to this secluded place for a fine food, schmooze or night life. There are only 2 hotels in this small Jibacoa village, 4 stars “Memories of Jibacoa” and 3 stars “Cameleon Villas Jibacoa (Villa Tropico)”. We’ve been at both of them and even sometimes the price difference is only 40-50 bucks and food is definitely better at 4 stars “Memory” one, we find ourselves driven to “Cameleon Villas Jibacoa (Villa Tropico)”, just for the feel of the place.
We love the scenery but what is most important for us is an amazing, huge coral reef all around the shore. You don’t have to book big catamaran trip to waste a day just to see corals for 30 minutes and got wasted on the way back. Just grab your fins and snorkel after breakfast and be back at lunch. And you can dive of the shore as well or go on a peddling boat for couple of hundred meters from the shore.
Places like Varadero are boring to death for us, but then everybody is different. Just make sure you do your home work before you go there as plane arriving to Varadero airport and some people who wants to party end up in Jibacoa and then complain and ask for relocation.response / report this review -

Food get's boring quickly. Bed's were not very comfortable. Most of the staff is very friendly. Sand Fleas were terrible. For the price it is hard to turn it down.

Definitely a perfect resort for people who just want to chill and have a relaxing time admiring Cuba's natural beauty. I have been here twice before, going again this winter. I enjoyed Jibacoa much more than Varadero, but if you want to drink/party all night in a club-like setting this may not be the resort for you. Spent many great nights by the pool bar laughing and chatting with staff/older guests.
Beach is wonderful and quite secluded, great for combing. The reef was amazing for snorkeling. Love the bungalows design and the front porch we had. Buffet food was okay (on par for Cuba) but the reservation-based restaurant was fantastic! The cab trips to Havana are much cheaper than Varadero. Only negative would be that the stone paths between rooms are usually broken and uneven. A bit dangerous if you've been drinking!response / report this review
