Great craft beer in a country where it’s hard to find that kind of thing. Great location and some fun night life with live music.
I just got back from wrsc. I wish i could stay forever. I can't say enough good things about this place. I have been to tamarindo 3 times. The first time i stayed at wrsc, the second time was at the diria, and the third time was back at wrsc. The reason i went back with wrsc is that they have the system down. They pick you up at the airport, provide transportation to all the local surf spots, including witch's and ollies. I stayed at pueblo dorado this time. At first i thought i was getting the short end of the stick since the beachfront location was booked solid. However after the first day i realized that i actually liked the tranquility of pueblo dorado. The pool is bigger, the rooms are quieter, they have fat tire bikes that are free to check out, and endless free costa rican coffee. I actually enjoyed the 2 minute walk to eat at joe's for my free breakfast, which they honor all day long, even if you leave to surf at 6 am and return at 11. Btw howler monkeys will be in the trees waking you up at 5 am. But thats costa rica everywhere ive been. I wear earplugs anyway so it doesnt matter. Most of the days we were leaving at 6 to surf anyway. Depended on tide and wind. They take you to the surf when it's best so you dont need to think about it. I was stoked david was still there. He's rad. I just met mariano this time, and he went out of his way to arrange everything for me- on point. Insider tip-ask about the front desk gal doing massage. It will save you $30. She's really good and they charge $85 minimum in town. After surfing 6 hours a day it helps to recover. Nice work joe. The owner is a smart guy that went to uc san diego, and he has been running this place well for many years, hence the reason for my return. Pura vida.
Always a great time at Witch's Rock. Great staff, good food, awesome surfing and lots of friendly people. I think this is my 6th time and will come again!!!
Had an amazing week at the Women's Surf Retreat. Our instructors were all amazing. The food was delicious, the wine didn't stop and neither did the smiles.
My daughter loved her surf lessons. The instructors spoke good enough english to communicate with a 7 year old gringo. She got up on the second try. :)
They were conscientious about only having her with other kids, but no other kids signed up, so private lesson!!
Super lovely plug and play trip option. We stayed for a week (in Pueblo Dorado, the sister hotel down the street) and would love to return.
Everything is well-organized and thought out. Delicious free breakfast daily, good music, amazing and lovely instructors, helpful seminars, and beautiful accommodations.
I didn’t worry about a thing while on this trip, and would recommend this place to anyone - older, younger or family, no one is out of place.
🤘🏻
I didn't stay there but looked around. Looks like a great place to stay and explore the surrounding surf spots.
Fast service, nice view for sunset as it's on the water, they played rock music, very friendly.
Great place for nachos and other good food like burgers. Such a relaxed vibe, and super friendly staff. I will be back.
Came here with a brother and surfer all week and had a blast. Had an instructor named flash that was awesome. Got better at surfing and had some big swells. Epic memories.
Beer is excellent. This is right on the beach and they have great happy hour deals. Wish they had pizza.
Stayed with my two sons in ground floor, beach facing room with two queen beds in jan 2017. Room, food, staff and surf lessons all good. There is security on site to keep an eye on petty thieves & we had no issues with that. Service was good. Steps from beach and close to lots of dining options, Good coffee shop just outside front entrance for that early morning coffee. Good surf shop and board selection- all included for your use during your stay. Ground transfer to and from airport in Liberia was arranged through the hotel.
Recommend.
Stopped by for lunch and split the half size nachos. Still plenty to eat. Only a 4 star because the chips were over cooked. The costa rican green salsa was unique and somewhat sweet. The red salsa had a wonderful flavor and mild bite. They make everything there. Server was superior, friendly and invited us to come back.
When you talk to other guests of the camp you'll start to notice the trend of people saying it's their 3rd, 4th, 5th time coming back. After spending a week here, I completely understand why. From the gentleman that picks you up at the airport to the wait staff, the people in the office to the surf instructors and Mr Maxie waxy who runs the board cage, everyone here is absolutely amazing and makes you feel at home. So many adjectives could be used to describe this place but the word that comes to my mind currently is magical. I've been all over the world and this was no doubt the best vacation I've ever had. I had such an amazing time with my best friend here learning how to do something I never thought I'd be able to do. I have so many memories from this fantastic week here that it would be impossible to share them all in this review. If I could rate this place 100 out of 5 stars I would. This is a place I'll definitely be going back to for years and years to come.
Offers everything I was looking for. Clean room, surf & decent food. Only reason it doesn't get 5-stars is because it's not a 5-star hotel. But for a basic surf camp, it's great.
Fantastic, great trip! Met some really nice people. Will try and come back next year.

The rooms are for sleeping and bathing. No TV. But EVERYTHING else is awesome. They do everything they can to make sure you get good surf. Plus the Ticos (locals) are super nice. Not just in Tamarindo or the touristy areas either. The whole country seems so chill. Also the Congo trail ATV canopy tour is a MUST DO. I'll be back for sure
