  Surfed for 5 days with Mauricio's team. I had a great time, they really helped me improving my surfing skills. Highly recommend it.

  Had such a great time learning to surf! Mauricio was super helpful and taught us many strategies and techniques to ride the waves. My sister and I both rode multiple waves and even learned how to turn the board in the direction the wave was breaking. I had taken a surf lesson before but I still learned so much from Mauricio. Also, Playa Avellanas is so beautiful and its a perfect place for people from any skill level to surf.

  Mauricio and his team provide excellent lessons and training for beginners and intermediate level surfers. He was able to help my daughters in ways that I couldn't. He was able to calmly provide the confidence needed for them to enjoy the experience. Something I was unable to do. Thanks Mauricio!

  When in Costa Rica, go to Playa Tamarindo. There you will find a beach called Avellana. On that beach you will find Mauricio Ortega Chaves, surf instructor extraordinaire. Great prices. Great attitude. Great location. Knowledgeable. Helpful.

  I had taken lessons many times with Mauricio,Luis,Jhonathan ,Javi etc.They were and excellent crew.Very professional instructors ,great boards and lots of fun.Do not miss the opportunity!!

  Avellanas surf school is the most professional and pura vida surf school in Costa Rica! we went 50 people and it was the best expetience of our lifes! Mauricio is the nicest guy around!! recommended 10000% excellent value for your money, don't get ripped off in Tamarindo!

  Maurico and Mau gave a private lesson my girlfriend and me. They are both great instructors, knowledgeable, patient and very fun! We were both were up on our boards in no time! You will not find a better place to learn. Thank you!!!

  Mau and Dialan are great! They are patient, skillful and fun to be with. Mau gave me a class, took the time to explain all the basic, push me trough my very first wave, and after some wipe outs, I was able to stand up and catch a wave. Truly, a memory that will stay there for a while. Give them an opportunity, you won't regret it.

  We had an excellent experience with Avellanas Surf School and would highly recommend it to everybody. My wife and I took our children, ages 8, 9 and 10 surfing and the owner, Mauricio, and his staff provided excellent instruction. My children had some surf experience and we were all much improved by the end of the lesson.
  My wife and I had Luis as our instructor and my children each had their own instructor which I would recommend for safety as the water can be rough (big waves and strong current the day we surfed). It was clearly evident that safety was their number one priority and I never had any doubt that my children weren't in good hands.
  Afterwards, you might want to grab lunch and a beer at Lola's !!
