  Es un lugar hermoso, acogedor, te sientes como en casa y tienes todo lo que necesitas. Piscina, cancha de fútbol, voleibol, rancho, camino al río, wi fi, televisión vía satélite, aire acondicionado, totalmente equipada, sobre calle pública, muy cerca del centro de Curubandé y de Liberia. Para realmente descansar, y cargar baterías. ❤️

  It is with great pleasure that I remember and recommend staying at Villas Los Encinos. It was a wonderful way for our kids to get a taste of local Costa Rican culture.
  
  Our family of 4 (our boys were 11 and 14 years old) stayed there at the beginning of April, 2012. It was during the hottest time of the year, and the end of the dry season. Things were a bit brown and crispy and still the setting was very pretty. Also, the farm is somewhat isolated - not many tourist services in the neighborhood to speak of.
  
  The guest house is located on a farm with orchards and poultry. It has one large multipurpose room, two small bedrooms, and two tiny bathrooms. The rooms were sparsely furnished, the sheets were thin, the pillows a bit flat, and there were no blankets on the beds. Of course it was way too hot for blankets! The shelves and counters were a bit gritty from the volcanic dust that had blown in. Around the side of the house, a raised cement sink provided a place to do laundry.
  
  That said, all the wonderful aspects of the place far outshone the negatives. The front porch looked out over flower beds, a swimming pool, a soccer pitch, orchards, forests, and a very pointy volcano. We ate our meals and basically lived our lives on the porch. The two big rocking chairs were very popular.
  
  After a day of hiking around the volcanic features of Rincon de la Vieja National Park, the very clean, unheated swimming pool was delicious in the tropical heat. As the evening descended, we watched flocks of colorful parrots squawking and squabbling in the trees silhouetted against the sunset.
  
  But far and away the best thing about Villas Los Encinos was the hospitality of our hosts, the owners of the guest house, the Alvarados. They welcomed us warmly, and were keen to see that we had everything we needed.
  
  They have built a larger house a few hundred yards from the guesthouse, and they live there now. The guesthouse is their former home, where they raised their boys.
  
  Although Sr. Alvarado is a university professor, he speaks very limited English, so we bumbled through with Spanish until their sons showed up on Holy Week Vacation from the university. Then the young men were able to translate for us some.
  
  Senor and Senora Alvarado and their family epitomized the friendliness we found everywhere in Costa Rica, only they personalized it and were especially warm.
  
  All in all, we had a great experience, and although it was a bit bare-bones we had what we needed, and it was a break from the typical tourist experience. At Villas Los Encinos, we were able to get a better sense of what life is like for local Costa Ricans.
