A very hopping place when the cruise ships come in. Very good prices on shirts and clothing and they will haggle a little. My favorite stall is the guy who is making the roasted coffee beans flavored with chiles and chocolate. Roasting and bagging right there. Only down side is there are no alcohol sales there. Gotta walk 3 blocks for that but no big deal

Free shuttle to/from ship to cruise terminal or 5 minute walk. Terminal has AC, good free Wifi and a post office. Excellent market selling local goods and also has nail salon, massage etc.
Cafe right opposite terminal with great Costa Rican coffee and free Wifi.
Parque Vargas is also right outside the terminal. You can see sloths here, the locals call them monkeys. For $2 they will point out the sloths; this is $2 well spent as they are very hard to spot. Park offers panoramic views of Isla Uvita.
Town centre is compact and very walkable. If you need supplies there is a supermarket on Avenida 2 that takes credit cards. Familiarize yourself with the exchange rate, right now it's about 500 Costa Rican Colons to the US$.
