It was fine. They have most anything you could need, although usually not in the same brand that would be familiar in the United States. This seems to be the most cost effective mercado in the area. Even if you're staying in Tamarindo, this one is cheaper because it's not in a big tourist destination. For that reason, the locals shop here. The employees don't speak English though, so you need at least some Spanish.

This place is very clean and offers some good grocery specials. It also has miscellaneous merchandise, such as dishes, shoes, seasonal stuff, trash cans, kitchen utensils, etc. The store also has American food such as peanut butter, chips, pancake syrup, pickles, etc. They also have cheap wine and a liquor store. The only thing missing is American cheese, good meat and vegetables. I go to Auto Mercado in Tamarindo for those items.

Nice store, some things have to be bought at store like this and they had good selection, but I would go to farmers market for the fruits and vegetables

Nice place to visit and enjoy the culture. Need rental car to get the real feeling. Study and watch You Tube videos about car rental. The can really slam you if you aren't prepared.
