I've been going to La Hormiga over the past 10 years, and it's never failed my expectations. The service is great. The food is incredible. And, compared to other restaurants, you won't find a better value for your money. Provecho!

I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. We went here because of the high rating, but we were very disappointed. Yes, it is cheap here. But three food wasn't good. The other restaurants made our food to order, this one must have them premade since our food came out in literally 3 minutes after she walked away. Coffee was good. Service was friendly. But we couldn't finish our plates. Just paid and then ate someplace else.

From the places we been this place had the cheapest cosado in town 2,500 colones and comes with a fruit drink. Food was very good here and reasonably priced. The pictures on the wall are exactly what you get

Soda-licious! Classic soda fare, casadas are plentiful and cooked with care. We were introduced to Horminga by a local guide and later by friends we met at Mistico Hanging Bridges. It’s located off the main road but well worth the detour. Every time we went by Soda La Horminga it was hopping.

We ate here almost everyday that we were in La Fortuna.

The food is half the price but just as good (if not better) than any other restaurant we went to in the city.

The dishes are a good portion and delicious. You get your food quickly and everyone is very friendly.

One of the few places we were able to find decent vegetarian meals that didn’t cost $15 for a lousy salad.

Highly recommend this to budget travelers and even those who have a bit more coin in their pocket.

Cheapest casado we found in town, 2000 colones or 2500 with a drink. Good food and portions for the price. Always a lot of people both locals and tourists which is a good sign.

No one spoke English there but we manage to point and got our orders in for grilled chicken and steak. It was quite good and the staff has great attitude with a consistent smile. Great local food, great prices, and great service in a humble but nice atmospher. Mucho gracias

Simply great service and great food. I came here for almost every meal every day for a week and couldn't have been happier. For ~$4 USD you can a full, tasty meal. I'll miss hanging out here and feeling like family among the staff who operate this wonderful little restaurant.

If you want cheap and cheerful tasty food this is a good little place to eat. Typical Tico and some European options. Can't fault it really although a beer with lunch would have been nice but not available unfortunately.

No way was this top rated. Reviews clearly staged. Food marginal at best, poor location, and no beer. Opens to parking lot which is full of trash

If you're traveling and want to experience a real Costa Rica soda then eat here. The food is great and inexpensive. Two of us had Casado de pescado and drinks for $8 total. Everyone here was very friendly too. Soda of the ant!

Cheapest place in town! The food is definitely good! You can walk on over or drive your car and park in their parking lot which helps so much instead of having to drive around and wonder where to park.

If you're in CR and need a good lunch try out Soda La Hormiga. There's lot of sodas in CR, but this is definitely one of the best.
