Amazing. Just amazing. The coffee is made and handled right in front of you just as pictured in a Costa Rican dream. The gallo pinto is absolutely amazing. Gives you more the price requires plus extra. Also, the smoothies are pure juice, many choices. The view of the volcano is great and also the restaurant is open-air. It is right I the middle of northern La Fortuna and is definitely worth visiting. It is also walking distance from many hotels. Definitely recommended by me!

This place is awesome! We stopped to get some coffee, which they roast onsite. We ended up ordering lunch and it was great. Excellent quality and quantity. Awesome price and very friendly staff!

Amazing coffee shop in La Fortuna. This was a wonderful place for lunch and a cup of coffee. I had the chicken chalupa and it was a huge portion and very delicious. This was one of the best meals we had in Costa Rica.

Not sure if we just visited on an off day, but we were very unimpressed with Red Frog. The food was okay, but we have enjoyed other meals in Costa Rica more. The service, unfortunately, was very off-putting. We entered the restaurant and after standing in the entryway while, we asked if we were supposed to order at the counter. The answer was yes, but then we were ushered to a table with menus. Since we had been told to order at the counter, we went back up to order which supremely offended the owner. From that point on, it was clear that he was unhappy with us. It's too bad that we missed out on all the goodness that everyone else seems to be experiencing here.

Great food. I love the typical breakfast of Costa Rica so I may be a bit biased but my girlfriend got the empanada and it was phenomenal. Very friendly owners and coffee was great. Nice relaxed atmosphere and there is a built in gift shop as well. Great place for any meal or just for a coffee if you have already eaten. Make sure you stop in if you are staying in LA Fortuna or just passing through.

We came for breakfast and will be heading there again tomorrow. You choose the coffee you want. We had the traditional breakfast and breakfast burrito, both were excellent! Definitely recommend this cute little spot.

A good place to eat lunch. Good coffee. We went back several times. The fruit juice is natural from actual fruit, you can taste it (it is not so in some other places).
HOWEVER, the owner might tell you that when you pay with a card that his machine takes only dollars because you have an international card (which is not true btw!). Just tell him that your international card has only colones on it..swear that it is so ;-) If he likes to make stuff up or basically lie.. be cool, make stuff up too! ;-)
The rest of the staff is really cool.
And Roy..put drink prices on the menu to avoid any confusion.

Roy is a nice and great guy. He makes coffee the traditional pour over way. There's also a great shop with tombs of crafts and souvenirs.

Fantastic coffee, great food, great people! The owner, Roy, is a super nice and knowledgeable guy, and quite an artist too. Try the coffee, best I had while in Costa Rica, and some of the best I've ever had. Smooth, balanced, local, rich and flavorful. Iced coffee was great too. Be careful there is another place which is a bar, not a coffee roaster/cafe, 2 blocks away that is also called the Red Frog, but written in Spanishthe official place is not a bar, it's smaller, and the sign is in English.

A great experience. Watch and smell the roasting coffee while your meal is prepared. Browse the small gift shop where the owner makes many of the rosewood souvenirs. Stopped to get a coffee, stayed for lunch, left with a great meal, rosewood bowls, and several bags of coffee.

Seeing as though I hail from the land of the green mermaid woman aka: Starbucks, and many other delightful coffee establishments, the Red Frog, and it's personal roaster and owner Roy, are a must stop if you are anywhere near La Fortuna. The coffee is outstanding and the shop has some cool items to peruse. Other than the coffee being out of this world the conversations had with Roy were very enjoyable and interesting. He knows his stuff with coffee. From the local growers to the roasting and brewing. Had some great talks of the ways of not only coffee but the ways of the world over a great Cup-O-Joe. Pura Vida! As a side note there is a review here that rates a 1star. Not sure what that person added to that cigar when they smoked it but Roy is genuine and runs a 5star shop.

The coffee here's outstanding! Best I've had! It's not just coffee either. Here you get a great experience. Roy the owner is so knowledgeable as well as laid back. The Pura Vida style of living. He knows all about coffee and the local growers. It is roasted here daily. Red frog is a great place run by an honest and hard working gentleman. It was nice to drink great coffee and talk with Roy. Pura Vida mi amigo.
