  Simply sweet hard working Italian yuppies who left highly taxed careers in Italy behind to live pura vida. They will go out of their way to create a special visit to this gem in the southern pacific coast. Be prepared for a few bugs but you can awake to an incredible view each morning and when paired with these gracious hosts' care and wonderful Italian food, will make for an unforgettable visit.

  Fantastic hotel. New owners since december 2017. I think all the problems I've seen on other comments are solved. We had an incredible bedroom on the sea, incredible view, animals (tucan, monkeys, lots of different birds). The shower also has sea view. Bedding confortable. The restaurant also is very good, with real italian products. I highly recommend the place.

  Ranchos Remo is a family owned eco-friendly project featuring eight open air rustic cabins and one restaurant situated high on the hills, overlooking Playa Hermosa and Bahia Ballena. The family that owns Ranchos Remo also owns a supermarket in Uvita which allows them to run Ranchos Remo all year-round and treat it as as important lifestyle and conservation project.
  
  Upon arrival I was taken back by the expansive view. You find yourself literally sitting above the forest canopy and can not only view the famous Whale’s Tail sandbar and length of Playa Hermosa, but watch parrots, toucans, hummingbirds and vultures fly around. The grounds of Ranchos Remo are immaculately kept, from the flower beds to the trails to access the cabins. Miguel, the manager of Rancho Remo, a Costa Rican from neighboring Uvita gave us a welcoming tour and was incredibly friendly and accommodating.
  
  Ranchos Remo is only accessible via a 4x4 vehicle as it is connected to the main highway that runs along the coast (Carretera Pacifica Fernandez Oreamuno) via a dirt road. I went for a run every morning and while the decent and hike up the dirt road where challenging, access to the beach is about a 20 minutes on foot or 4 minute drive.
  
  We where allocated a cabin with a sea view which is an important detail. Only three out of the eight cabins have open direct full views of the bay. The other five cabins overlook the mountains. Walking into the Rachos Remos ocean facing cabin in the equivalent of jumping into an infinity pool. It is an infinity room given the fourth wall is not there, there is a secure railing about waist high and curtains made our of mosquito netting that can be pulled if desired. I literally sat on the sofa with a big smile, taking in the sun, overlooking the bay and watching toucans fly by. It was as if I was watching a nature show though a wall to wall HD plasma TV. My first thought was not about the facilities in the room but the cost per night for such as a view. An infinity room indeed.
  
  The cabin was basic but spacious. It was a single large space with one king size bed, one double bed, one sofa and two chairs. There is a partition for the toilet and the shower with a main mirror and cabinet unit in the middle. There is also a small a wooden table that serves a desk. The room also featured fresh towels and bedding as well as two electric fans. Rustic and basic but clean. The flooring is titled which is great as it keeps the room cool and clean. Next to the cabins there is a nice outside area with two benches and a hammock.
  
  The open air restaurant is a nice feature, sitting under a large wooden canopy and providing amazing views of the bay. The restaurant is managed by very friendly Colombian. The food is very good and tasty.
  
  Ranchos Remo is a gem. While there are other spots in the area that provide a higher degree of comfort and modern facilities, Rancho Remo, for a third of the price of those places, delivers a rustic "nature in your face experience" that is rare and will leave you surprised.

  Great food. Chef came put and talked and joked with us. Very comfy location with an amazing view. Just be sure you can make it up the hill.
