We have been here twice for a week's stay over the last couple months. The property is beautiful with great views. The food is pretty good, the restaurants with reservations are really good. It's impossible to go hungry here as there is food available for most of the day. Drinks are great, staff is friendly and helpful. For the money this place is a great value!

This resort is anot easy 30 min. drive from the Liberia International Airport. The adults only resort is gated with 24 hr. security. It's positioned on the side of several hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Grounds are immaculate as well as the amminities. This includes a large hourglass pool, complete spa, exercise facility just to name a few. The beach has security and we felt completely safe our entire visit. They have complementary shuttle service for transportation anywhere on the grounds. The breakfast buffet was delicious with it's many different types of local fruit. Lunch was served at the pool and the main dining area and both were accepional. Dinner was casual in the main dining area or you may make a reservation for either the Italian or Japanese restaurants. Both fabulous. All drinks were superb especially my favorite the Mudslide. All the staff was amazing. They were there to make your stay an unforgettable experience.
This is such a beautiful area of Costa Rica, I would recommend it to anyone considering a vacation in the area.

La comida es demasiado mala, no había nada para almorzar sólo ensalada, es resto tenía una apariencia muy mala, definitivamente no recomiendo este lugar.

The food is so bad and the service too, do not come to this place you can choose some many place better.

Increíble si es extranjero lo atienden de inmediato, si es nacional lo lo vuelven a ver, no vengan se llevarán una decepción.

I'd hate to give too much credit to the resort for the location, but without beautiful Costa Rica, this resort would be a so-so experience. The beach is beautiful, which is why anyone and everyone visits the country in the first place. Everything else at Occidental is somewhat mediocre. The food is absolutely terrible unless you get into one of the formal restaurants onsite. They limit the availability of restaurant seating, so you're stuck eating at the buffet which is absolutely disgusting. The staff is generally very helpful. There were raccoons trolling through the common areas at night begging for food, and skunks roaming around as well. There are plenty of places in Central America with beautiful beaches, I think this resort leaves a bit to be desired.
