DOMESTIC AIRLINE NATURE AIR CLOSED BY CIVIL AUTHORITY

The Dirección General de Aviación Civil (DGAC), the civil airline authority has closed Nature Air until further notice due to the apparent lack of three management positions, Director of Operations, Head of Security and a Head of Training. The previous head of training recently was killed in a major crash that claimed the lives of ten US citizens.
Nature Air and Sansa Airlines are the two domestic air services offering flights to the several (about 16) regional airports around Costa Rica. Nature Air also offered service to at least one airport in Panama. These airlines are popular with tourists and provide small planes commonly known as “puddle jumpers”… aircraft with single and dual engines. Prices are reasonable and help travelers avoid the long driving distances to popular tourist spots.
Travelers planning to visit Costa Rica with reservations on Nature Air should consult with their travel agents or directly with the airline to avoid a nasty surprise. Sansa is unaffected by this closure. There is no indication that this suspension is permanent, but clearly travelers should do some checking prior to travel. Interestingly, the Nature Air web site mentions nothing about the suspension.response / report this review -

DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE.
I had a round trip flight booked between San Jose and Tambor. One way they cancelled the flight an hour after it was supposed to have left and then sent us on a crowded van on a 6 hour journey by land leaving us stranded at the end of the journey at a random closed airport location that had no taxis or anything for us to figure out what to do.
On the return they pushed the flight back an hour without saying anything ahead of time
So had I not called ahead of time to check the flight I would’ve missed international connection (which they will not reimburse you for). When I called to get money back for whole trip they said of course and after having me on hold for 10 minutes ended the call and never answered the phone again. AGAIN I REPEAT DO NOT USE NATUREAIR either book with Sansa or go by land which is the most reliable even if it takes longer.response / report this review -

Fly during December San Jose four times with Nature Air
- San Jose - Tortugero. No problem
- Tortugero - San Jose No problem.
San Jose Tamarindo. No baggage, we were promised next flight, did arrivedby car 8 hours late so from rainforest to sun in the wrong clothes waiting.
Tamarindo - San Jose. Flight cancelled and they told us, sorry nothing we can do. No idea at all what to do, we were on our own. The other airline Sansa helped us to book a flight with Nature Air from Liberianand we had to take a taxi and try to drive 60 km in highspeed on bad roads to Libera to get in time. Problem solved but i am disappointed of Nature Air, saying nothing we can do. Lucally i had booked the flight to Europe next day so we didn't missed that flight.response / report this review -

Be very careful. They cancelled my flight for unknown reasons and then WOULD NOT REFUND ME. Super sketchy. Theieves.
