A good first stop in town. Learn what to do, schedule tours, and find out all about the area. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

The beach itself is not very pretty, and in fact quite small, but I walked the trails in the park, which were absolutely beautiful. I also went on a bioluminescent tour and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life, we kyaked to a private beach around dusk, and watched the sunset, then as the night fell we began kayaking back out, and sudenly these tiny little lights started showing up in the water around us any time we paddled! As the sky got darker the algae got brighter, and on the horizon we could make out the front edge of a huricaine that was coming in (several days from landfall). We stopped in the middle of the ocean, and tied our kayaks off to the boats that had been accompanying us, and we were able to swim in the middle of the ocean at night, with these algae glowing all around us. It truly felt like something out of Peter Pan, and it was by far one of my most amazing experiences in Costa Rica.

Beautiful but not perfect. Careful with low tide as you might injure yourself in the rocks.

Montezuma Beach is an unspoilt sandy beach, very nice to swim and go for a walk.

Is also not very crowded which makes it a place to chill as well.

The water is full of garbage. There's sharp rocks on the ground. The waves are huge, but only on the shore, so surfing is a no go unless you plan to crash into the rocks on either side of the beach.

Cool beach with very strong waves. Watch out for your stuff because waves can take them or at least flood everything ;)

Nice beach, great for swin, snorkeling, walk, there's a foundation, who takes care of the turtles nest and they show to the public the process of the birth of the turtles and the release of the baby turltles to the ocean.
