I enjoyed the stay and breakfast here. They also provide a shuttle to and from the airport although the the shuttle runs from 4am to 11pm. The room was a good size and clean. The walls do seem a little thin as you could hear everything going on around you. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely recommend this place.

Clean. Free shuttle. Free breakfast at a great price. This is all about convenience and value. I have stayed here over 10x.
Balcony space outside with free and strong internet service
Walking distance to shopping mall (although they will drive you for free)
Air conditioned rooms (I don’t understand the previous post that said they don’t have it. I’ve been staying here for over 5 years and it’s always been here)
    Amazing friendly staff

The staff were great but no A.C. in Costa Rica? Yikes! Deal breaker! Avoid this place at all costs.

I was completely loss for words after my stay of one night at the Melrost BnB. To be completely honest, it's one of the dirtiest place I have ever stayed at. As soon as you walked in, the walls had water leak stains on it. The floors were dirty. BUGS everywhere including the window and all the if we the shower and bed. The towels had a foul odor. The bed we slept on had body odour and blood stains. There was no safe for our passport/money. The door was flimsy, there was no locks on the main door. The only saving grace for this place is that the ladies at the front were nice, shuttle driver was lovely and the breakfast was good. For 90$/night it is a complete rip off.

Total dive. Tons of bugs in room it was disgusting. I couldn't even sleep. Doors are paper thin and heard everyone's conversation. Avoid this spot. Nice people but it was worst than a motel back in the states.

I only stayed in this hotel for one night, as I was flying out of San Jose in the morning. The room was decent and the price was very reasonable, and they also provided a free airport pick-up and drop-off, which I thought was fantastic. Not only that, but I left my Amazon Kindle in the room. I emailed the staff on the off-chance they might be able to help, and Kattia was fantastic, she queued at the post office for a couple of hours to post it back to me - and I received it around a week later! Tremendous service!

This place is a dive! Very, very dirty! The bathroom was disgusting. I don't think they even clean rooms between guests and sadly I am not sure sheets had even been changed. I got in so late and only had a fee hours to sleep before heading to the airport so I just dealt with it. If I had the time I would have left and found a decent place.

Not impressed, to start with I reserved the room via trivago and when I got there and they charged me 5$ because I was paying by credit card. The room had ants and wasn't that nice.

Melrost Bed and Breakfast is located near the airport and would make a good place to stay for your first or last night in the country. We had an early morning flight and they took us to the airport in the free shuttle. (which is only a 10 minute ride or less) They even came to the car rental office to pick us up. The room had air conditioning, hot water, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and TV. They only charged us $75 for our party of 3 adults in a two bedroom suite. The only drawback is the lack of restaurants nearby. We walked about 15 minutes to get a café for our dinner. It was a good value and I would definitely stay here again.
