The Whale's tail is always worth it and even if it's not possible to walk there because of high tide, the beach is very beautiful and super nice. Costs for non-ticos is about 3000c/6$

This is a beach you have to pay for. Nothing else. There is no real National Park. Many tourist and not that special in comparison to other beaches. The 'awesome' view from the whale is nothing special. If you are nearby then go to the park otherwise I cannot recommend. Many signs that you have to watch your belongings maybe many pocketpicker?

This is a really nice park and beach. As you reach the gate there will be a bunch of private parking options where locals will be charging ~2,000 colones ( ~$4USD) to park your car, but 500 m from the gates you can park along the road easily for free. There is a Park enterance fee ~$6 USD per person. The park has a trail through the trees, which is nice and shaded, but the entrance to the paths are pretty hard to find and may be marked by a stick piked into the sand painted yellow at the top. Because walking along this beach is hot! sunscreen is a must. at low tide you can walk out to the tip of the whale tale, where it is rocky, so if you're going to want to walk around there carry some shoes with you. In the trees you can see monkeys above, birds, and little lizards running around

Great beach, and nice walk out to the whale tail . Nothing on the beach for drinks or snacks so take some water or coconuts from the few sellers at the park entrance

Nice beach. Clean. Beautiful wild parrots to be seen while sunbathing. Just a shame that you have to pay $7 usd to enter the beach

Beach is perfect spot for the whole family. Your little ones will have a blast. Make sure you try out the flea market and sodas close by.

This was a disappointment.
We knew it wasn't the prime time to see whales, but the quality of the water was questionable: very warm, but felt slimy.
I wouldn't swim nor snorkel there.

It really was a stunning beach, we walked all alone there. But, for a next time I wouldn't pay 6$, all the beaches in Costa Rica are stunning and if you look for them more of them are deserted. However the whale tail is cool to see. Tip: watch the tides before you head out!!!

Amazing and beautiful beach, and what makes it even better: completely empty! You can enjoy long days there seeing the sunrise and the sunset, surfing and sunbathing and you barely encounter people during the entire day. A must-visit for everyone looking for a peaceful yet breathtaking landscape and beach.

Beautiful park! An amazing, huge beach. The whale's tail is a really cool experience, just check the tide schedule to make sure you give yourself time there.

Famous whale tail beach, charges $6 per person for tourists. I'd skip it. All beaches are beautiful in Costa Rica, but this one charges for it.

Such a beautiful beach!! One of my best days in Costa Rica was here. You can hang out on the beach or come at low tide and walk out on the whales tail.

Beautifull, very clean beach. It's a national park, so you'll have to pay 6 dollars entrance fee. Bit thanks to that it's clean, quiet and romantic. Din't forget to check the tidetable, at hightide the sea will reach the palmtrees and there is no sandy beach, but at lowtide it's a wide beach with a spectacular view!

Loved this park! Had no idea of all the beaches included in the modestly priced entrance ticket. Very long coastlines, with surreal views. Every angle was an awesome picture waiting to be taken. The water was very warm, and we stretches of time we were the only ones out there at midday. Here are a few tips.
Tip 1: Beware of crocodiles in the mouthes of the rivers going into the ocean.
Tip 2: If you do a boating tour, keep your ticket because you can use it to visit all of the beaches throughout the day.
Tip 3: Come during low tide, or else you will not be able to see the whales tale.response / report this review
