We had a very nice stay here. The staff were great and the place was cleaner than most hostels. They do have that eco-friendly vibe going on. Their breakfasts are really good and hefty, and are made from only small local producers.
We also saw a bunch of howler monkeys roaming around in the trees and eating mangos.

If you stay in Montezuma, you must stay here. Abbey is the kindest and most caring owner/operator you could ask for. Very helpful with everything you would want to do while in the area. Can't wait to be back!

Stayed in bungalow with patio. Very beautiful, in the middle of the forest despite the road it s at 30 m. WiFi connection not perfect. Many animals and insects, be careful. really recommended

Beautiful hotel with nice peoples. You can see monkey and other's animal just behind your windows ! The breakfast is classic without fresh juice Only coffee or tea. The room is clean with hot water and 2 big Fan for cooling. The wifi is not too strong and cut sometime.

The walk to the hostel from the town center is relatively short but up a somewhat steep incline with cars coming around blind corners. The hostel itself had good and bad traits: the surrounding jungle was nice and secluded, the building itself was decent, but the rooms were tiny and the bathrooms sparse. There was a nice common area upstairs with hammocks and another downstairs with a few tables. We cooked a few times in the kitchen and encountered trails of ants on the counters. The included breakfast was absolutely amazing and fortified us against the day. The staff were supremely helpful in setting up connecting journeys and the like. Would definitely get 4/5 or 5/5 if the rooms were better/bigger and the building was a little more clean. Still had a wonderful time.

OH MY GOODNESS! This place was amazing!! Waking up in the jungle with a 2 minute walk to the beach is like winning on every level! The breakfast was truly better than anywhere you could get in town!! The only thing better was Abbie. Abbie was the owner of the Hostel and was so kind, i felt as though she had taken me in. She being very young and beautiful herself, could see that I was a female of 23 traveling alone that needed help. lol She was able to help me with my travel and provide the family feeling. I love Montezuma and Luz en el Cielo; I will be back :)

We had a wonderful experience at Luz en el Cielo. We stayed in the beautiful and comfortable casa and woke up to the sounds of monkeys and the ocean. It was a perfect place to take in the beauty of the Costa Rican coast; the sunrise (and moonrise) from the balcony was particularly epic! The Luz staff was warm and welcoming, and we loved the local, organic breakfast that was included every morning. Thanks for the incredible value and for making our stay in Montezuma truly special!

Great hostel, great people, and includes organic breakfast!

Pros: Amazing staff (sent me my lost GoPro, was extremely helpful!), will help you find anything in this small amazing town, very environmental friendly, great prices

Cons: none in particular (you wake up to real animal noises and it's a little humid, but that's a Montezuma thing), really no complaints

Great hostel with local organic breakfast of eggs, Gallo pinto, bread and fruit and coffee. Very very nice staff. A bit of a hike out of the center but more secluded.

Montezuma is amazing and Luz en el Cielo is walking distance to everything but removed enough to give you privacy. Abbie and Ensi are fabulous and made this trip very special for us. The houses do not have air conditioning, but it does cool down at night. We will definitely be back!

I had a cockroach in my bed, left the next morning. The location is nice, surrounded by jungle few minutes walk from the beach. The common area is too small for the capacity of the hostel. The floor of the dorm creaks.
