Friendly guides. Stable outrigger canoes took us to a lovely sand beach to swim and snorkel. Good picnic lunch at the beach. All and all a great time. Sunscreen use lots of sunscreen. And say hi to the Halloween Crabs and Iguanas.

Kayak Jaco also has a trimaran that you can book for a short sailing trip. The experience was wonderful and *very affordable*. If you don't have the energy to Kayak, I can't recommend this sailing excursion enough.
Captain Neil (US Expat) took our family (6 adults) to a safe location close to shore and gave us quick lessons on snorkeling. He also dove into the water to check the anchor and show us the local sea life.
Unlike other sailing trips I've taken, the ocean was calm. Imagine the Pacific Coast behind a breakwall and that is how calm it is.
The entire experience included lunch snacks, cold drinks and great stories from Captain Neil.
If your trip includes a visit to Playa Herradura or Playa Jaco keep Kayak Jaco in mind. Also, if you are looking for a relaxing excursion to sandwich between exercise intensive eco-tours, this is a great fit.

    *Advice/Tips*:
    1. Change into your swim wear before you get to the beach. There isn't a dressing room on the trimaran.
    2. Don't wear shoes on the beach before you get on the trimaran. You'll just track sand and pebbles into the boat. Don't be that guy.
    3. Use sunscreen on all exposed parts of your body or pay the price later.
    4. If you fear sea sickness, take Dramamine a bit before you get on the boat. Bring Dramamine for others just in case.
    5. Bring a waterproof camera if you can. I missed several underwater photo opportunities on this excursion.
    6. Look at the Kayak Jaco pictures on Google. These photos are great representations of what you'll likely experience.
    7. If you don't plan on fishing or try to fish and don't catch anything, there are plenty of locals that will sell you fresh fish. Just tell your driver or guide. And bring an ice chest! Don't assume there won't be delays before you get that fish to the frying pan.

Didn't go kayaking, but did go sailing with the man in charge. Had an incredible time. He took us out on an awesome trimeran, set us up to go snorkeling, fed us snacks and drinks, showed us aquatic life, and had some awesome stories to share. Highly recommend to anyone looking to spend some time on and in the water.
