The staff is amazing! The rooms are private and outstanding. Food is very good and chef is very helpful with special dietary needs. Overall I would recommend very highly. Worth the trip (roads are repaved, except last few km of unpaved road.)

Great location, great rooms, but there is a big swimming pool st the heart of the hotel which kids are not allowed to use, Instead you need to go to the beach club ( 10 minutes
    walk, or a short drive)
A bit weird I find it.
    Not happy customer

This place is heaven on earth! Accommodations were pristine and wonderful, staff could not be more any more sweet or helpful, beach is amazing. Take a surf lesson and rent a board while you're down there. We wound up here after we were scammed initially into staying at Hotel Playas Samara which is a 1-Star Dump. We had a 4 night stay there, left after the first night, and they cut us a break on our two bedroom villa at Punta Islita. We spent 10 days in Costa Rica and the last 3 days here were by far our favorite.

Was an amazing experience. Our family stayed here for a period amounting to 4 days and we had a very fun time. The main "Pacific Restaurant" was an ideal place for us to eat and we ate a few of our meals there. It can get pricy though, so we did a little research and found a great restaurant that served both fresh seafood and many native Costa Rican dishes. We went to the beach every day and the waves were huge, service was great, and we had a great time. Activities we enjoyed complimentary at the hotel included:
    -Zip-Lining
    -Horse Back Riding
    -Bread and Coffee Class
    -Yoga
    -Morning Hike (Monkey Hike)

Super place with some helpful staff. The activity choices were a surprise for us and such a good idea to break up the time in the sun; zip lining , horse riding and mixology (cocktail drinking) all at the hotel. Some controversy over the 4 sunbed parasols by the pool that was not expected and could be addressed by more parasols rather than military like bed bagging!! Really!!! Thanks though to the beautiful scenery and Christina for a very pleasant stay. Oo and do go for fresh lobster at the village kmute

A very unique hotel. Tons to offer. Take advantage of all the complimentary activities (monkey spotting hike, horseback riding, crafting in the local village, pick up soccer games, zip lining, cooking & mixology classes). Other activities like surf lessons, deep sea fishing, and snorkeling available for a fee.

A great place for families, but I would not recommend for elderly travelers or those with disabilities. Although transportation is offered throughout the property at no cost, most places require stairs and/or steep hills to get to.

A beautiful view of the ocean from all points of the property. Two pools, one infinity pool at the top of the property overlooking everything, and a second family pool on the beach. Both with swim up bars. The beach here is clean, we did not see a single piece of trash along the sand or in the water.

The staff is wonderful, excellent service. Almost all staff speak both Spanish and English. Highly recommend over any other tropical location. What a treat to be able to show up to the beach at noon and have tons of seating options. No lines or waits anywhere. A very secluded paradise.

Tons of wildlife to be seen without even looking. Monkeys dot the property, iguanas, lots of unique birds and butterflys, whales, sea urchins, crabs. coconut and almond trees on the property also, fun to pick up fallen fruit and extract your own.

Would absolutely recommend, will definitely come back.

Best vacation spot ever if you love the sun, fantastic food and authentic genuinely kind staff. The staff is so fantastic that we could not tell who the mgt was. Our cottage was nothing short of amazing. The excursions was wonderful and lacked in nothing. Simply Pura Vida! Iitvis 2.5 hours from Liberia airport. Rent a 4 wheel drive.

Paradise! Warmest welcome ever experienced along with a fantastic combination of luxurious hideaway and respect for nature (we discovered coons, snakes, parrots daily). The ample private beach is perfect to relax and ride the waves. The infinity pool on top is the perfect place to enjoy a fresh fruit drink during sunset. Breakfast is awesome. Staff always friendly. Definitely our highlight during our CR roundtrip (also in terms of roads: who has ever been to Santa Teresa or Monteverde will find the roads easy to drive - even without 4W; we did with a Toyota Yaris).

    Thanks to the team!

Off the beatten path. This is where you go when you think Costa Rica. Because all All-Inlcusive are the same. This is a luxury natural hotel with a great view from the main restaurant-pool, a very relaxed and nive beach club, great food, a LOT of nature around a plenty of activities. On the way to this hotel you can pass trough nice beaches like Playa Samara (nice town an local food), Playa Carillo (one of the nicest beaches in CR), and Playa Camaronal (where you can se turtles -depends on season). In this last beach you can see a lot of nice dead trees in the beach.

Friendly staff, very scenic with limited man-made improvements to the surrounding area. Fun activities, probably much better in dry season for star gazing, it was usually cloudy at night for us. Food was great, but limited choices

Our family and a friends family stayed here within the last few weeks. We had a lovely time, however a few notes I feel important to share to reviewers considering! This is important to me, because we carefully scoured reviews before booking and felt a little disconnect from all the reviews we read to the actual stay, and I might note many guests we met had the same exact thought!
Staff is nice, but by no way did we feel they went out of the way white glove service (Except shout to Christina!! Superb!), we felt this was due to under-staffing. I'm sure this yields better profits, and the workers get more in tips, but ultimately the same 5-8 team works all day in all locals running food/service. Two concierges do everything else and the 3 guys do all the activities (IE the guy who takes you to zip line, takes you horseback, etc.)

The foot is solid, breakfast buffet just lovely. But our group was there for a week, and basically it's one restaurant/kitchen no matter how they spin it. Menu somewhat limited/small especially for lunch/snacks. They do a theme night like every other night to break it up, but those cost generally $50/per person. We got very tired of eating the same things. Also if you eat a regular lunch (think sandwich or tacos) have a cocktail or two during the day and dinner with wine, imagine $350/daily in food costs and tipping on top of the 10% hotel service fees, for a family of four. The all inclusive activities is a huge bonus, but beware, while we imagined our selves daily horseback riding and zip lining that is not the case. We understood sign up important, but basically our group was told we had to share with others in hotel, meaning spots limited. We pushed and were able to go horseback riding 3 times during our week, and zip lined once, but really, our children had imagined being able to do much more. Definitely go to town for the coffee bread baking, though candle making/keychain takes all of 5 min. Cocktail making fun and Yoga excellent!

The property is remote as mentioned, but we liked that, the rooms nice/clean, though bathrooms slightly dated. The pools nice, but also ready for some updating/maintenance. We really did love it there, views amazing. I just felt it important to clarify a few of the items, made this a 3 star to have it stand out for that point alone. Also really ideal for honeymooners! Families will definitely enjoy, but based on food/activities I would limit to a 3-4 day stay not a full week, too many other amazing things to see and do in Costa Rica.

Lovely place with friendly staff, if you need some time away from everything with your special other this would be a great spot. Calm with nature surrounding you in every which way, at night you'll feel as if you're in your own private piece of Earth with no bothers.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this hotel is. Beautiful amenities in a lush natural setting, paired with magnificent staff and great cuisine. Individual rooms are private and relaxing, giving you the feeling of waking up each morning in a Lost World of wildlife, mountains, and deep blue ocean. The number of animals we saw around the property was incredible - howler monkeys, macaws, coatis, deer, raccoons, iguanas, geckos, bats, armadillos, and countless colorful birds all wandered through our patio.

However, what really sets the place apart is the quality and friendliness of the staff. Everyone we interacted with was great, especially Jairo, Chamo, and Kervin. The included activities, led by these folks and others, are a great bonus for those who don't want to just chill out by the pool.

The location is relatively remote, but not difficult to get to if you have a 4WD. There are a few smaller towns in the vicinity that make for good day trips if you're so inclined, as well as the Ara Project, a local macaw sanctuary that's worth a visit as well.

Overall a great place to spend a few days or a few weeks. Highly recommended!

I vacationed to Costa Rica with my family in December 2016. We stayed at this wonderful hotel for a week! Our villa was called Estrella. We are a family of six, so this spacious villa, including a full kitchen, pool, terrace, and 3 bedrooms, was absolutely heavenly. The staff were especially caring, but it was kind of hard to communicate, but we managed because I knew a bit of Spanish. Regardless, the staff did an outstanding job helping us and keeping us comfortable. We were also provided our own golf cart since our villa was a bit far from the lobby. Breakfast is amazing, equipped with Costa Rican cuisine, and delights from around the world. The Los Cocos Beach Club is also a great way to spend time together with loved ones. This hotel also lets you include activities in your stay, free of charge. We did zip lining, horseback riding, surfing lessons, golfing, and much more. If you're looking for a great family experience, this would be a great place to start. Some advice: bring sunscreen and don't let geckos and insects come into your villa, as they entered ours when we opened the front door to enter or exit. :)

First, if you are looking for an American style resort with lots of fluff and little culture this is not your place. We chose Hotel Punta Islita to truly experience Costa Rica and spend a week as isolated from the rest of the world as possible. 5 stars isn't enough for our time here. The country of Costa Rica, town of Islita, and Marriott should all be proud of the staff here and they way they represent. EVERYONE at the property operates as if they personally own the property. It is a truly welcome sight to see a staff with such pride in their company and jobs.

The resort itself is amazing. Imagine the most remote camping trip you've been then go 15 km farther, add a beach and a pool and you are here. The beach, wildlife, and natural design are amazing. You basically have a warm shower, top notch bed, and air conditioning in the depths of nature. It is an amazing experience that we cannot wait to do again. Outside of a short walk in to the town of Islita we have not left the property for a week yet feel as though we have truly experienced Costa Rica. I get there are mountains, volcanoes and rain forests that we did not see but that will be another trip.

Activities here such as kayak, zip line, horseback riding, cooking, and mixology have been simple yet wonderful. They truly feel like a part of everyday life versus a staged event.

To all that built, operate, and staff this property a huge round of applause and job well done.

    Pura Vida!
