A very relaxing atmosphere and a very attentive and professional staff. Like to specially mention Joshua who took great attention and great care to hell with all our request for meals and transportation etc.
He really made our stay a very nice experience. Thank you Joshua.

Nice hotel for a night. Don't expect anything fancy, the photos show exactly the reality of the place. No ac, no TV and no hot water during night and early morning since it's heated using solar panels. Good and strong wifi signal.

Breakfast is fully homemade and good. Staff is very friendly.

Eveything was perfect. The hostel is located at an amazing location, next to true nature. The accommodation is very clean, tidy and beautiful gardens. The nature is breathtaking and the trails were a treat to walk on with a lot to see.

We learned about this hotel from a friend we met while in Costa Rica, and we can’t thank him enough! Joshua was absolutely amazing. He was helpful, kind, and went above and beyond to make our stay seamless. He coordinated all our activities away from the hotel, arranged for transportation, communicated with us, and was just authentically genuine and sweet. The setting and gardens are gorgeous! The windows in the room were big and so clean you couldn’t tell there was a window, and it made the views of the garden that much better. The rooms are simple and quaint but you’ll be having so much fun in the town, it’s all you need! The food in the restaurant was wonderful. Would highly recommend!

This place is amazing! Miles of gorgeous jungle hiking trails right out the back door! From monkeys to crazy, beautiful insects their forest is a magical place. The hotel's location is great with wonderful coffee shops right up the street and a few minute walking distance from all types of sites like the Bat Museum, coffee tours, waterfalls, etc.

This cozy hotel/lodge will warm your heart!! I fell in love with the place as soon as the driver of my bus drove in!!
The rooms are clean and simple without a tv. And I believe you don't need one because the experience of lodging here is to be human with nature. The lodge is definitely surrounded with it and I recommend to experience the night tour!! The lodge does have Wi-Fi and lots of hot water for showers!!
You're also a hop skip and a jump from a coffee center, a bakery, and a general store!!
The front desk folks are very friendly . Do ask them about activities to do, they will absolutely assist!!
Free coffee, tea, fruit, and toast are served in the mornings. You can ask for eggs, rice n beans, and plantains for a small fee.

I ABSOLUTELY loved my visit and you will too!!

Very outdated rooms with basically no amenities. No safe, no ventilation, cooler with no plug. Tiny bathroom with broken sink and toilet flush. Location is the only plus otherwise no reason to stay here

Rustic & Very Basic rooms. Away from town, limited restaurant options but the three were very good. 10% discount to all restaurants when staying here. Room itself was small, beds could use a mattress topper. No in room safe or coffee maker. It is much colder in Monteverde, bring warmer clothes. Staff were great though, if you don't mind camping you will be fine here. Just make sure you have activities planned

Friendly staff. Clean. Beutiful surroundings. Breakfast is a rip off! If our cabin was one of the cabins by the garden i would give it a ekstra star. So if you get cabin 28 or 29 try to get another. It takes about 20 min to walk to downtown Santa Elena and it is a beutiful walk. Taxi is 4 usd.

Very helpful and friendly staff and excellent location! Walking distance to several restaurants and hiking trails on the property. We were able to arrange our tours in Monteverde directly through Hotel Bosque. Great place to stay in Monteverde!

These are very old and poorly maintained rooms. Apparently clean, but very depressing, especially when it is cold and rainy (as it often is there). This is a very basic accommodation that is probably OK for one night. Clearly the price is inflated. Breakfast is poor and you are offered a choice of a real breakfast for purchase when you check-in (although breakfast is included). By the way at the desk Roy was very kind and helpful. All activities that are available are at a considerable price. We ended up walking trails by ourselves, being utterly sick of the continuous rip off of tourists in this country. In the vicinity there is a good Italian restaurant (Tramonti), which often has lots of people coming by bus, so you may want to reserve. The rest of the restaurants in MonteVerde and Santa Elena are rather basic. To get to MonteVerde is not easy - it takes more than one hour on a dirt road plus additional hours on paved roads, and a 4x4 car may be a good idea.

Good place to stay. There are many tours. We did the night tour, which started at 6pm and lasted 2 hours. The guide takes you on a walk and night, and you try and find animals and insects using flashlights. Cost was $25 per person. If you plan on coming, bring a good LED flashlight to see far distances. They do provide flashlights, but you will wish you had a more powerful one to see far into the jungle.

No air conditioning but its not really needed. Decent wifi. Hot water, 3 meals a day plus deserts at lunch a breakfast. Near a couple coffee places and a "whole foods." Rooms could have cleaner floors, also for some reason my other friends got a microfridge and I didnt. Theres a laundry service for $5 per kilo (or two kilos?) of clothing.

For the price we paid we had a very comfortable room with a great shower and very helpful staff who helped us book our excursions. One of our best experiences in Costa Rica.

This hostel is run by two very enthusiastic brothers that will help you always out with questions, tour bookings and transport (e.g. Jeep-Boat-Jeep). I've never met other Costa Ricians that speak that good English like these two!
The expression"hotel" is maybe a littlebit missleading. In fact it is a true hostel (W/O any dorms and loud young crowd). And that's what the target audience should be (also according to the owners). Guest should be backpackers (of any age) that are fine with a normal room standard (bathrooms have hot water). It is normal beds, normal bathroom and a nice breakfast (pancakes, corn flakes, toast, fruits), no high standard rooms. But the sourrounding of this hostel is worth to come here. You stay in nature, within a bigger green yard-surroundings where you can observe a lot of birds during breakfast and day-time. It is roughly 40 minutes to walk to the Monteverde Reserve National Park, whereas the way is not soo special as pointed out in tour books. The way from down-town to the hostel is nicer with more beautiful views (a taxi would be 4$).
The hostel is directly located in the neighborhood of a small bakery, coffee shop, super-market and Italian restaurant (where you can buy tasty Pizza to go!).
Within the hostel area also a night tour takes place (which I personally cannot recommend, but just because you do not see so much animals - tour guides are nice and knowledgable, though. I can recommend Manuel Antonio or Corcovado for night tours!)
