Stayed here for a few nights during our trip through Costa Rica, and what an experience it was. We were lucky to have booked a corner suite and were greeted by a capuchin on the balcony (see picture). It’s so easy to spend hours observing birds and wildlife around you. We had a car to get around but is easy to walk into Santa Elena also. Breakfast was very delicious!
The service was friendly and welcoming, the facilities were rustic but in tune with the area and surroundings. Thanks to the team, we’ll be back if we can get the chance!

We had the room that overlooked the parking lot, so not ideal, but the staff were very friendly and the cottage decor and feel was well executed. Breakfast was free, but that's the only food you're going to get here. The restaurant at the end of the short laneway this hotel is located on serves excellent dishes, though.

Original breakfast vs other places in CR. Proper, nothing crazy but adapted. Nice moment after the breakfast when they feed the wildlife

The Cala Lodge is a beautiful clean Eco friendly hotel. The trail just getting to our rooms were beautiful and immaculately maintained. The office staff was exceptionally friendly and kind and very helpful.

Comfortable hotel right in the forest. Staff are extremely helpful and it's a short (though dark!) walk to the main road. Lots of tour companies pick you up from your hotel which is useful. Wildlife spotting from your window is unforgettable!

Lovely quiet retreat, tucked away from centre of town, but still close to everything. Breakfast plus late afternoon coffee provided. Easy walk to nearby restaurants. Friendly hosts that can arrange any tours for you.
Bird watch on the long balcony while you enjoy your coffee or breakfast.
Rooms, with high balconies. My wake up view - the treetops!

This was a nice little spot off the beaten path in Monteverde. The hotel has fantastic views of the valley below, but not all rooms get to enjoy it, naturally. Amenities are a little sparse, but the cost is spot on, and the staff are very helpful. While not too close to the downtown area, you can get there via cab, take a 20 min walk and enjoy the sites.

The water temperature in the shower is the only thing that is less than perfect (it fluctuates).

The room was clean and wood paneled with a small kitchenette. No coffee provided in the room, but they'll give you plenty in the main building with the included breakfast.

We spent two nights here and had a nice stay. The site is secluded and peaceful, yet still walkable to decent restaurants and town. The staff was very friendly and helpful in booking tours, cooked a mean breakfast, and made sure we didn't miss any of the local wildlife when it came roaming through. Would definitely stay here again.
