By far the best place to stay when you visit Puerto Viejo. Mark and Jessica are awesome hosts, the bungalows and houses are beautiful and the breakfast is to die for :)

    Perfect Hotel Experience
In late April I was very lucky to stay at the Caribe Town Hotel just south of Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
The hard-working hosts, Jessica and Marc, were wonderfully welcoming and had helpful tips about the best restaurants, excursions, shops, and sites in the area. Every morning they served up a delectable breakfast which included regular choices as well as those with delicious tropical tastes and fruit.
There were a variety of accommodations available, all spanking clean, fresh, and beautifully decorated. I was lucky enough to stay in Casa Colibri (Hummingbird House) down a well-lit lane through the jungle. The kitchen was well-outfitted and the porch had a large dining table, chairs and hammocks. I could sit out in the evening and enjoy the lush tropical flora and the silence without the hum of the mosquitoes one would encounter in a similar natural setting in North America! With the cross-breeze and large ceiling fan, the bedroom was wonderfully cool, and each night I was gently lulled to sleep by the sounds of the jungle outside. It was Heaven.
All round, I would have to say this was my most pleasant hotel experience ever!

My girlfriend and I chose Caribe Town for our stay in Puerto Viejo. Marc and Jessica were amazing hosts. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet at Caribe Town, and the staff is very small, but at no time was anyone unwilling to help us, answer a question, tend the bar, or even cut a fresh, young coconut down for my sick girlfriend to drink. We happened to be vacationing for my girlfriend’s birthday, and Jessica and Marc even went the extra mile in helping me source out a bottle of her favorite whiskey to have waiting in the bungalow upon our arrival! The price for the room was very reasonable, especially with the included breakfast. Each morning a standard breakfast is offered (eggs, chorizo, homemade bread, and amazingly fresh fruits) with an additional daily special (coconut French toast, gallopintos, assorted fresh muffins, etc.), and they were glad to make sure we’ve had plenty to eat before we embark on our day’s activities. Additionally, they are expanding their gluten-free options to accommodate gluten-free guests. The pool, while smaller and shallow, was a welcome refreshment from the heat and humidity of Costa Rica, and there’s also bar access from the pool for a refreshing drink while you soak. I also enjoyed listening to the birds in the early morning from the relaxing comfort of a hammock on our bungalow’s front porch. With just a short walk to the beach (across the street), to the Jaguar Rescue Center and bike rentals as well as restaurants and bars, the location was perfect for us. We loved that the hotel is a little bit away from town, nestled in a quiet area of the jungle. The paths through the ground were thick with local foliage, and we were able to spot tree frogs and birds nearby our bungalow. Both Marc and Jessica were excellent resources for local attractions, and were able to direct us to places or suggest other awesome sights and activities as well as organize our arrival and departure shuttles. We were even sent off to San Jose with a breakfast to go despite checking out an hour before usual breakfast service. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places, but if I find myself back in Puerto Viejo, I wouldn’t hesitate to make another reservation at Caribe Town. Thanks for making us feel at home in the Caribbean!

Caribe Town really has it figured out! This small lodge is in an absolutely beautiful and convenient location and is owned by Jess and Marc. These two put their heart into everything they do. As their guests, we truly felt that we were treated like family and appreciated their suggestions and the great local knowledge that they shared. Not to be missed is their fresh made breakfast! The coconut French Toast with fresh fruit tastes like a little piece of paradise!
There was a wide selection of accommodations to choose from ranging from the lovely on-site bungalows to several neighbouring houses to suit your needs and group size. My husband and I enjoyed staying in La Casita, a special open to the air jungle house with a beautiful king size bed, we absolutely loved it!
Caribe Town is so much more than our accommodation when we get to spend time in the Caribe Sur, it's a special part of our Costa Rican experience : )
Cheers Jess and Marc, we shall return!

The owners are easy going and very friendly. The place is something close to Paradise, just few minutes walking from the beach. Highly recommended!
