The hotel was decent. It advertises free airport shuttle however it's only for one way. We had to pay for the way back to the airport the next day.

Decent place if you need to be near the airport. It's no resort but as a hotel it's good

As others have said -- don't judge the hotel by the neighborhood around it. Very, very tranquil and relaxing grounds inside the gates. A super choice for the early flight out the next morning. The staff could not have been more helpful!

Very pleasant stay here, staff was very helpful including organizing the airport shuttle and breakfast. Great breakfast and the dinner was good although they ran out of chicken which really limited the menu. Being so close to the airport you can expect a lot of noise, but was still an excellent choice since I had to fly out quite early.

We highly recommend staying here!!! It may not seem to be a great place when you are driving up to it, but once the gate opens, you are transported into another world!! The grounds are so beautiful!! The staff is wonderful and the food is very good!! We stayed 3 nights and made friends with the whole staff!! It may be noisy but that is to be expected because the hotel is situated on the approach route for planes flying in. But we would just lay back in the lounge chair and watch the different ones go over! Sometimes wave!! Lol! The noise didn't bother us because we live by a busy highway. The beauty of the place and wonderful people outweighed any negativity!! We had a very relaxing time hanging out!!

Brilliant hotel to stay in for access to San Jose Airport. The grounds were so pretty, room was fantastic and spotless and the food was delicious.
They also have pet chickens which gets bonus points from me :)

Stayed here before a flight, they picked us up from the airport, and dropped us off as well. Only issue is it is secluded and you have to eat at their restaurant, where the food is horrible and the dinner cost us more than the room!

This hotel ruined our whole 10 day experience in Costa Rica. We arrived after 20 minutes in heavy traffic (on a Saturday afternoon) through a very narrow street where I saw nothing but three dark shabby bars. Turned onto a dark dirt road, rang the bell and waited forever for them to open (it wasn’t working, the man said). Reception was ok until we were shown to our room. We had reserved and paid for a family room through Orbitz (“Quadruple room, 4 beds, 4 adults”; you can see a photo of that room in several booking sites), but they gave us a very small room with two double beds. When I told them about our reservation, the lady first said those rooms were for five people, but we were only four. Then she said they only had those in their “other hotels”. When I showed her our reservation she said they did have two family rooms, but they were taken. They offered to let one of our children stay in a single room with no air conditioning and no bathroom. When we refused, they offered a mattress on the floor in ours.

Description in Orbitz: “All 15 air-conditioned accommodations feature living rooms (ours had a chair that had to be removed to fit the mattress on the floor). Beds sport premium bedding (ha!) and bathrooms offer free toiletries (one tiny piece of soap).”

Their advertised “standard room” in Orbitz costs half of what we paid for. When we discussed leaving, the man said “he had our credit card number”. Of course no apology was offered, nor did they accept giving us a partial refund.

We would have left if we hadn’t been so tired and the neighbourhood hadn’t looked unsafe. I locked our door and still couldn’t sleep. I thought some insect might get into our daughter’s mattress, or if the TV had been installed with the same care as the rest of the hotel was kept, it might fall on her head. Aeroplanes didn’t help either, nor did the roosters in the early morning.

Before we left, I checked that our tires hadn’t been slashed.

Hotel is overpriced for the accommodations. The rooms have no safe or coffee maker and the beds are extremely loud if you move around. Would definitely recommend paying a little bit extra for a nicer place. Airport shuttle was prompt and excellent service.

This little hotel is located conveniently about 15 minutes away from the SJO airport in Costa Rica. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The service was great and friendly. The price for the stay was very affordable and it includes free shuttle to the airport. This is a good one night stay hotel before returning home.

Close to the airport. Quiet. Driving to the hotel I wondered just what we had gotten into. The neighborhood looked rough by USA standards. However once we got in the gate it was a whole new world inside. Very well kept and clean. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Buena hospitalidad y muy lindo el hotel. Muy amables aunque el WiFi no estaba funcionando cuando nos quedamos allí y hubo mucho ruido de los aviones. Nos quedaríamos otra vez en el Hotel Brilla Sol.

Decent food with good sized servings, but it seemed to be sorta busy and they only had one person serving. I would still go back and our server was nice, but we did wait a long while for our food. Beautiful restaurant and amazing hotel.
