Well positioned, well equipped and with very obliging staff. Despite the decor being slightly aged this was great value for a short-stay in San Jose.

I'm not much of a hotel snob but I do appreciate a certain level of curiosity and common amenities. Ex. Getting ICE should not require a visit to the lobby's restaurant every time. Also, I really disliked the conditions of the bathroom in our rooms.

Good location but needs a redo. Suites are huge and comfortable. But very tired. Bathrooms are small and old. Staff are very friendly. 3 times to get a fridge key. You need a passkey to open it. Two times to get room keys to work in elevator. Buffet for breakfast is ok, but the restaurant is noisy and frantic. Never tried it in the 7 years of living here but since it isn't a 5 star hotel and don't consider it good value for money don't think I will stay here again

We stayed 3 nights in all at the start and end of our Costa Rica tour. I certainly would not rate the hotel as 5 Stars. Everything needs refurbishment!
However the breakfasts are very good and all the staff are cheerful and helpful.
The water in the pool was very cold!

Breakfast was good. Lots of choices. We arrived at 9pm and our room didn't have any towels so we had to wait for them. Waited like 15 min and decided to go to bed instead because we just had a 12 hour long flight and needed to get picked up at 6.30 the next morning. So points off for service. Nice view of san jose though.

Ok. Pool was not open. Food service was very slow. Not a true five star hotel but during happy hour two glasses of wine and two voldka press was forty US. Then realized they charged six dollars for mix. Uhm.

Comfortable and friendly, all the staff have been helpful.Meals I have chosen have been well prepared and tasted good.Central position is extra benefit when choosing where to stay.

I booked the corner suite on the Club Floor. Bathrooms were not cleaned well. No valet was anywhere to be seen upon arrival, so I carried my own bags to the room. Evening hors d'oeuvres at the Club Lounge were sad and not served on weekendsHowever, views are nice if you are on an upper floor. The new Hilton in the future should give this Holiday Inn some nicely-deserved competition.

Overall: in it's glory days it was definitely a five star. But it needs to have an update in order to keep that five star rating.
Pros: gym is ok, indoor pool (was not open on one of the days we stayed here due to maintenance)
Breakfast is really good
Concierge's were top men/lovely gentlemen there

Cons: bathroom needs an update
Would be helpful if there was a fridge in the room
Swimming pool not heated

The hotel is very relaxing and has a calm ambience with good resturants surrounding it. I do recommend this for a short retreat but im not sure if there's much entertainment or action in the hotel.

I was supposed to stay at this property July 5, 2017 but I was on able to make it. Called to cancel the reservation and they would not allow it due to the cancellation policy. So this hotel took my money 7 days in advance before my arrival and would not allow me to speak to a supervisor when I called. That's extremely unprofessional simply just want my money back because I did not stay at your property whatsoever.

Stayed in this for Hotel for 4 nights and highly recommend. Staff was great, room was clean and quiet. Staff was helpful and will stay here again on my next visit. The only issue I had was that few new light bulbs needed replacing. If you are from the US, this is much nicer than the Holiday Inns I am used to.

Not a 5 star hotel because the rooms need some TLC. The lobby gives a grandiose impression. It is nice. The breakfast area is spectacular. The pool area has outdated cushions and the pool needs to be re-tiled badly. No one seems to clean up daily in this area because food trays remain from over night. Room service is awesome and decently priced. This hotel has some good qualities but for it to be 5 star the cracked tile in the room and shampoo or replace dark rugs is necessary.

While the hotel is aging, the staff here works tirelessly to ensure their clients are happy. Beautiful views and an awesome breakfast buffet included in the price make this a great place to stay within walking distance of so much that downtown San Jose has to offer.

Probably the nicest Holiday Inn I've ever been to. Rooms are clean and the bed was very comfortable. Service from the staff was excellent. The English was not always great, but they made a cheerful effort with me and we always got it done. Several good restaurant locations nearby as well, which is good because the hotel restaurant did not have great food. Not terrible but definitely not great.

I stay in IHG worldwide, Spire Elite status (oh er mrs!!!!!). Checking in..ok, but cc not needed so go to bar, have a beer, check refused. Matched to reception by barman to set up account. Very embarrassing.

Hotel or Brothel??? I say Brothel

During a recent stay at the Holiday Inn Aurola my laptop stopped working, so I called a local computer technician who travels to your home, office, or hotel to repair your computer. When he arrived at the hotel, I was told he could not go up to my room unless I paid an additional $70 because I had only paid for a single guest (myself). I explained that he was here to fix my computer, not to stay the night. I was told I would have to bring my computer down to the lobby for him to work on unless I paid up. I was so upset that I demanded that my money be refunded so I could move to another hotel. When I asked to speak to the Manager, they suddenly changed their tune and allowed him to go up to my room. However they wanted to know exactly how long he would be there and even required him to leave his driver's license at the front desk. They made me feel like I was trying to get away with something. I was totally confused by this until I spoke to a local resident about it. He laughed and said, "They wanted to charge you a Prostitution Fee". Apparently, several hotels in the downtown area charge extra if you want to bring a prostitute (or anyone else for that matter) back to your room. If this is true, that means these hotels are profiting from Prostitution. In my opinion, any Hotel that profits from Prostitution is a Brothel. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families with children.

This hotel is situated in the center of San Jose, Costa Rica. There's a great park in front of hotel with nightly attractions. You are literally in walking distances from all kinds of shops,restaurants,clubsetc. But this hotel has a 5 star restaurant on the top floor with a breath taking view of the city at night. The food is superb and service is hands down #1! If you are looking for a romantic setting this is the place to go.
