A great combo of cultural and ecological tour. Our guide Gustavo was excellent: knowledgeable and kind. He was especially good with our children - making the information about the local flora and fauna accessible to them without being dumbed down.

Super cool place with lots of heritage and history and Really Good Local food!!! The grounds are beautiful perched a top of a rolling hill and the river boat tour is super fun. Make sure you take the earliest tour boat as it probably can get hot hot hot in the boat later in the day.

Wonderful experience! We did the afternoon river boat and cultural tour. The house and grounds were stunning. Not too hard to find driving on your own, well marked signs. google maps was close, don't really on it completely, follow the signs! We got there early to have the lunch buffet which was fantastic. We saw so much wildlife on the river boat tour, the guide was extremely knowledgeable and spoke good English for our limited Spanish family. There was only our small family and one other small family group on the boat which was amazing and we enjoyed being able to ask questions and the personal attention. We were able to move around and get the best viewing of the wildlife. The cultural tour was fantastic!!! We literally we're the only ones so had a private tour! (Maybe it was luck, but I highly recommend the afternoon tour to avoid the big groups.) We got to help extract sugar cane juice, make tortillas and sample a variety of yummy pepilito appitizer snacks. They even picked a green mango for us to try, I don't think that is part of the normal tour, we just had a lot of questions and the guide said they preferred green mangos, we we're facinated by he idea so they picked one and served it to us with salt!

Love El Viejo visit. I always take my US visitors here and go on the river boat to see the crocs and monkeys. The dirt road is well sign posted and well graded.

It is a real renewed cattle ranch house, it was in hand of Salazar, later by lates 90s in hand of one ermines term of transportation of Costa Rica MR Jenkins, American gentleman and actual owner or this farm too,
1200 hect under protection as a protected area, really nice place
