Visited March 3, 2020. Our tour bus broke down and the Palo Verde staff sent transport to rescue us. We enjoyed a delicious traditional lunch (made even more special by a demonstration of tortilla making from
grinding the corn to cooking them over a wood fire). During the boat ride, we saw many monkeys, birds and iguana - even bats geometrically arranged on a tree trunk! The canopied pontoon boat was comfortable and the captain well versed about the wildlife. All staff were helpful, welcoming and gracious. The small gift shop had many treasures, too.

Our Tour guide Santos was amazing.
I cannot say enough praise to him and the driver of the boat. Santos was very kind, funny. He made sure we seen so many things. I have travelled allot . This was by far the best tour I have ever taken. We seen howler money's, macaws , alligators, birds such as blue herring, grey herrings, tiger herrings and many other species. White face monkeys. Some the largest iguanas species I have ever seen. What I really appreciate was that he had us all smell certain plants, we smelt cinnamon, garlic leaves, and stinky toe fruit. I would recommend this tour to anyone. FYI. The boat driver David has an eagle eye. I found it fascinating that he was able to know that tiger herrings was about hunt,we watched as the bird pulled out a frog from a hole in the side of a bank. We received what we paid for and more. We then left the river tour and went to a water fall for a swim. It was majestic. I will have this memory forever.
Thank you Santos for a incredible day

I can’t say enough good things about this business. We were blown away by our boat tour. We saw more wild life in 1 hour than our first week in Costa Rica. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and went out of there way to accommodate us. Well worth the money especially considering it includes your lunch. If I could give them ten stars I would they have thought of everything!

This tour was amazing! The people were super friendly and informative. They made sure we saw lots of animals, including many different species of birds, lots of iguanas, crocodiles and monkeys. This is my third trip to Costa Rica and by far one of the best experiences I’ve had. And I definitely recommend getting the lunch with it. Some of the best food, all organic, ridiculous amounts, and only $10 per person. We were over all beyond impressed. Highly recommended tour.

Awesome tour. You can drive there on your own but difficult to find as not well.marked. for that matter none of the roads are marked in Costa Rica or house numbers actually. We took a tour from Tamarindo and were glad we did. Tour itself was amazing. Saw crocs, lizards, monkeys, a wide range of birds, bats and so much more. Once tour was over, the meal that was served at back at the operators was simply delicious. So much food we could not finish it. Definitely worth it and would do again.

The boat tour was a little underwhelming, thought we would wildlife. Highlight for us was the crocodiles. If you are into birds it's a good tour as good variety but for other animals was limited. However the restaurant after was great, authentic food and tasted delicious. With I could have had more food like that for the rest of the vacation.

Most excellent! GREAT guidewe saw all kinds of wildlife.up close. Crocs and kapuchans within feet of the boat. Earlier tours are best for seeing wildlife and avoiding the heat. Lunch was DELICIOUS! Very authentic.

Amazing tour! Chris (Jr) is a brilliant guide! It's very obvious within minutes he has attained high university degrees including his masters degree. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable of everything Costa Rican: the ecology and environment, social norms of life, but he is also courteous and charismatic. The van and boat are clean and up to date, the lunch was authentic and delicious. Definitely use this company for any tour you may be considering!

A great experience— boat operator very familiar with local wildlife and good at spotting interesting animals, lots of bird species, crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys (not a good view from the boat, a better one on the way back). We went with our own English speaking guide (Tomato of Tomato Adventures, also recommended). The included lunch is in a beautiful setting, and very delicious. They also gave us coffee and tortilla with cheese as a snack on the way there, since we came straight from the airport. Lovely people, too.

Really nice tour. But the price ruined it for us. We paid a total of 110 dollars for sailing on the river for an hour. Did all transportation and arrangements ourself.
    Ridiculous price.

Good tour. Didn't see quite as much as I expected, but overall a very enjoyable experience, and I would recommend. We saw quite a few crocodiles including very small young ones. We got very close to one and actually a larger was hiding in the mud and tail shipped our boat covering us I'm mud. It was the highlight of the tour. We also saw a Jesus lizard and some white face monkeys sun bathing.

I was so impressed with Dalilia, and her authentic Tican family owned business. Their restaurant/office was beautiful and they were so warm and friendly. The tour was perfect and Captain Solano and guide Fernando had the best eyes for spotting wildlife and were extremely informative. We saw crocodiles, Capuchin monkeys were just a couple feet from our boat, green iguana, long nose bats, spoonbills, herons, egrets, Ctenosaurs, tons of birds. It was a wonderful day! Followed by a delicious lunch from their authentic Guanacaste kitchen, best Typical meal we have had. Thank you for an amazing tour! BTW, we saved money and booked directly with them and drove out.

Amazing experience from this Family owned business. Highly recommend taking this tour especially if you are traveling with kids. Antonio stopped and took his time to not only show us the wild animals but also plants that can be used for cooking, tooth aches, etc. After the boat tour you come back to their resturante, or have amazing food! The people (family) at Palo Verde Boat Tours are what make this adventure so special! Thanks again for an amazing day!

This was the best part of our trip by far. We saw so many beautiful herons, monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, and egrets! Our guide, Jose was amazing at spotting the wildlife. Lunch was great Tico fair. Some of the best food we ate during our trip. Patricia in the office was friendly and spoke excellent English. It's a bit hard to find but definitely worth it!
