The property is beautiful, huge, and clean. People were friendly and staff was helpful. We had a wonderful time relaxing and the on-site travel agency was very accommodating in terms of helping us see what we wanted while in Costa Rica. My husband and I definitely want to return.
We got a great deal on the place- with one night being free. Even without that, it was an incredible deal. It's not a 5-star resort, but it's a nice enough one. There are lots of activities and great nightly shows, and very friendly staff. My only complaint is that my room was warm but others did not think so about theirs.
Very disappointed. Room was SO basic, no mini bar for snacks or even some bottled waterif I wanted water I had to go to the bar and received a small glass, if I wanted a bottle of water I had to buy it, Rooms desperately need updating.. I compared this resort to the one we stayed at on the Mayan Riviera THAT was an all-inclusive this resort needs to take some tips from. All entertainment was in Spanish.since there seemed to be a lot of locals there I guess that was to be expected, but English speaking guests were totally left out. Bar staff were not very friendly either. Most staff spoke little or no English, unusual for a tourist destination. I wouldn’t recommend this “all inclusive” unless you speak at least some Spanish.
Nice hotel that is full of activities. Simple and comfortable rooms. Although the all-inclusive package encompasses drinks, they’re pretty weak and sugary. The whole strict rules on towels and bracelets, I understand why, but is rather annoying.
Pools are nice and are kid-friendly, however. The fact that the pool closes at certain times is unfortunate. I come all this way to enjoy an “all-inclusive” hotel and they have a pool schedule?
Food was good especially the breakfast. Omelettes made to order were really good.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay, just not the best all-inclusive hotel I’ve been too. I would come back in the future.
This resort lacks the nurture and care the Hilton brand is known for. Generally speaking for the price, this was an "okay" experience. The food was what you expect at an all inclusive (decent). Be sure to make a reservation at the two resort restaurants, they were good. Most of the staff don't speak English and most activities are conducted in Spanish.

This resort is geared more toward families, however my girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay! The buffet-style meals are surprisingly delicious, often incorporating local dishes with lots of seafood. The beach is beautiful and maintained well, and the staff is almost entirely bilingual and very friendly.
Beautiful venue. Wonderful food experiences. One night our air conditioning went out, told front desk and by the time we came back from our visit to the rain forest it was fixed. Staff were wonderful. Even though their native language is Spanish they spoke English quite well!!! Would definitely stay again!!!
The good:C. R. is beautiful. Very nice grounds, food is OK staff helpful. The bad:Rooms are a throw back from 1980, a bit of mold around the bath mirror, tile floor responded to inside and outside temperature which made floors damp. They were painting beams with a laquer paint so the smell was less than plesant. Lots of people, not a place for a quite getaway. They took inventory on a Thursday the store was closed my wife needed cold medicine. She could not get and ruined our dinner due to sneezing. It is all inclusive so I get the quality but the rooms really need upgrades.
Although this was a family hotel I was not disappointed. Great service to start from check-in until check-out. The accommodations were lovely and the spa to die for. I loved the spa staff and how excellent they were in their services, I came back twice during my stay because of it. The hotel offers an array of activities to do daily, there’s food and drinks available at all times, and tours and transportation offices if needed. I couldn’t recommend this place more.
Nice pool area with wet bar and snacks. The buffet area was also nice but the food was plain. Travel staff were friendly and refunded our money after poor weather made our tour too dangerous. The special reservation-only restaurant was mediocre and the food was horrible. We ate there two nights and both options I chose were dry and tough (beef and chicken). The beach was ugly and rocky. The ocean was brown due to the river flowing into it. Construction noises were distracting in the pool area. Pathways are slippery and dangerous leading to the rooms. Toilet wasn't working when we first arrived. TV guide advertises about 6 English channels and we found one. The alcoholic beverages were cheap. I even spit out pieces of plastic that were somehow mixed in with my pina colada. Would not recommend this place.
Old rooms, food is average and it gets old to eat the same all the time. Booze is cheap in the all-inclusive plan. However, the pool area is cool, not the beach though.
Just not for me. We were one of the most beautiful countries in this world and being here made me feel like I was being hidden away from the beautiful country. We actually had reservations for 3 nights but didn't even stay one. We left for Manuel Antonio and got a room somewhere else and continued our adventures in one of the prettiest countries I've ever been.
DoubleTree is a great place if you want to feel like you still in the States. It's not great for those who want a getaway or an escape. This hotel is too American granted it's location.
Excellent location. Just an hour and thrirty minutes from San Jose. Good food, excellent facilities. Good environment for the whole family, kids area teenager paradise, nice swimming pools, snack bar, can't say enough!
The rooms are so outdated! For thisvl to be a Double Tree by Hilton it sucked!! These were the worst beds and so called pillows we have ever tried sleeping on. We didn't sleep because of the so called pillows. The rooms are so drab and boring. Every fixture is old and outdated. The A/C is ridiculously loud and we couldn't get comfortable. The toilet leaked all over the floor and the handle broke twice because it was rigged in the first place. I had to physically put my hand in the tank and re tie what appears to be a paper clip or wire to make the toilet flushgross. The toilet paper is ridiculously far from the toilet you practically have to get off the toilet to reach it. The food consisted of mostly pork dishes and we don't eat pork so that sucked! Now the customer service was excellent. The staff here is amazing.
My husband and I honeymooned here! We had a great time. Even the transportation to & from the airport was lovely (Arenas Travel located inside the hotel). We didn't even tell anyone we were honeymooning and the next day we come back to find towels in the shape of a heart on the bed! Past reviewers have said that the rooms needed some TLC, but we didn't experience that at all. Our suite was perfect. It was spacious, clean, and we were first floor (close to the beach & pool). It was always quiet at night and we both slept great. We LOVED breakfasts, lunches were ok, and dinner at the restaurants was always lovely. Bar service was also great. My husband and I were a little nervous about weather considering it is June and the rainy season. However, it was always sunny and warm for most of the day. Staff is very polite and kind. We would come here again!
Very friendly and attentive staff. The food in the daily themed buffet was very, very good and the specialty restaurants were exceptional. The views are amazing, the rooms were comfortable and very clean. Air conditioning was nice and definitely cool enough. Fresh fruit and juices, poolside snackbar, and swim up bars, all with quick and responsive staff. While the staff was great, Jessica in Customer Service was amazing. I highly recommend this place and plan to return.
Had the best experience ever, beautifully landscaped hotel. The drive from airport is a bit long but once you enter the resort you don't want to leave ,it is gorgeous. Fantastic staff always friendly smiling and helpful they go out of their way to make your needs met.The all inclusive package is a must ,the food is high quality and delicious, must try the seafood restaurant. I am definitely coming back here.Make sure you meet Jessica the front desk manager she is amazing and does special little things in the room set up and goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable.
We enjoyed this hotel very much. On beach location, several pools with swim up bars yet also pools for families. All inclusive resort. Great location on the central Pacific Coast to use as a base to explore Costa Rica from. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
We stayed here for a week, last July. We had a wonderful time! The staff was very kind and friendly. Our room was just what we needed. The food and drinks were delicious! We are looking forward to returning.
Staff customer service is great. The food is good. There are several bars for cold drinks. The grounds are well maintained. The rooms are clean. This is definitely a family-friendly resort in January. I would visit again. There is no refrigerator or mini bar in the room.
