Cheap appliances, good selection, but you have to stay over night in order to be able to buy. It's hot in there, they sell NO WATER or other drinks, No food in there either !

Great discounts, but shop around for the better price between stores. Try to buy at the same location so you don't have to walk around everywhere to collect your purchases; it tends to be very hot in Golfito, so bring water. You can buy items the same day they give you your voucher, but you have to come back the next day to take possession of your items. They have special rules like this and a limit on how much you can purchase in a year. You can also buy someone else's voucher so you dont have to get a hotel for the night.

Duty-free products, just about anything you want
The problem I have there are no maps posted so you have to walk around to find the items you are looking for and to do price comparisons. The sales people are a little pushy and don't seem to have product knowledge.

Sure, you avoid the outrageous CR import taxes, but the selection of lower end calibre goods reflects what Ticos are typically offered. Think one level below Walmart for most everything except liquor. For example, Ticos are offered lower end Sony, LG and Panasonic TV's (2+ year old models). The Samsung phones are generally Latin America specific designs that are cheaper with less features. We don't see the latest Samsung or Apple phones until they have been on the market for a year. Same for HP and Dell computers. Most Ticos just don't have the money to buy the flagship version of most products.

A good place to buy appliances, liquor and other items duty free. It is usually a bit crazy here with a lot of activity. It's also usually very hot and humid. Some vendors offer cash discounts when buying big ticket items. You have to acquire a "card" at least one day before you are allowed to make purchase. Cards are valid for one semester of the year, first or last six months of the year. Costa Ricans and foreigners can purchase here with a Cedula or a passport.

great prices but super chaotic. You won't find cheaper liquor in Costa Rica but make sure you get your ticket a day ahead of time. It's required in order to buy anything. Buy a lot of items to make it worth the chaos.
