  This was a very magical experience and we documented for our doc under an episode called GUÍAS (Guides). Despite the scalding day and a very humid weather we managed to visit the Sitio Museu finca 6 and walk thru a series of trails until we got to see the famous ancient stone spheres left by an ancient local civilization.

  Buena información en los paneles, pocos artículos arqueológicos en el museo, muy interesantes las esferas, podría ser mucho mejor, más cuando es un Sitio Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

  this archeological site contains ancient stone spheres made by the original natives of this land. There are stone spheres both found there on site and also relocated back from stately houses and office buidings in San Jose, where they had been taken to during the 20th century. A brand new museum on site , property of Museo Nacional de Costa Rica provides graphic displays and videos about the spheres, and the site in general. There is a paved road all the way to the entrance of the site, located in an old abandoned banana plantation. No food for sale on site, but once you explore there, you can continue a bit further down the road to the very nice town of Sierpe, next to the river with the same name,where there are many options.

  I have always wanted to see the mysterious stone spheres found in Costa Rica. This museum has some. A few are in their original locations; some were recovered from other locations. The museum has descriptions, both text and video, of the culture that made and moved them.
