Go! Its very educational and fun and I hate snakes. Our guide, Victor, was wonderful and patient. He will speak on what interests you. All the snakes and insects were active.
Seems small upon arrival but plenty to see and learn once inside.response / report this review -

We payed 26$ US dollars each (we were 3) and the half of the spaces where there was supposed to be animals were empty! There was interesting facts about the snakes but still there was a lot of cages empty The person who made us visit was not able to explain anything about what was showed to us. Usually I love those kind of exposure but at that moment I was disappointed. It seems like that place was good in the past but now it is dying. Don't waste your money and time. I only have two pictures (the most interesting.. I didn't find the one with the dead looking small crocodile)

This place is a must-visit for anybody who is interested in the wildlife (especially the snakes) of Costa Rica. Victor and his family are warm and hospitable hosts. Victor and Carlos are very knowledgeable and will teach you a ton!
The Ecozoo holds a ton of snake specimens, as well as other reptiles, many amphibians, and birds! Absolutely get the tour of their zoo. However, I recommend a night tour for people who want to see these creatures in the wild. Both Victor and Carlos have eagle eyes. They can spot animals that you would have walked on by without even noticing. Be prepared for a fairly long (2-3 hours) hike, but you won't regret it!
If you're hungry, the family also keeps a restaurant on the premises. Get yourself some homemade Costa Rican typical food, dine on the patio abuzz with thirsty hummingbirds, and enjoy the breathtaking view of Arenal volcano!response / report this review -

Go here if you want a great experience with attentive and well-informed naturalists who are passionate about snakes, turtles, amphibians, insects, and the future of all living things. It is well worth the entrance fee.

Great place for kids. Our two young ones had fun holding the snakes, frogs, etc. The guide was very knowledgeable.

This place was amazing! We stumbled upon this place and I was weary at first because I am not a fan of snakes but I held 3 different types of snakes. The tour guide was clearly passionate about all of the animals and made me feel extremely comfortable! I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

This was excellent!
Worth the trip
Great guide victor
Very knowledgeable
Family owned and excellent with small children.
What to see?
Snakes, tree frogs, reptiles, crocs, turtles.
No monkeys sloths or birds.
Worth the drive from fortuna.
The road is a bit rough and unpaved.
No hay problema-

The Zoo has many animals. Many of them have little to no space and open sores on their skin. Additionally my girlfriend and I paid for a private tour and 30 minutes into the tour they grouped in a large family of 6 who completely hijacked our tour. This led to a very disappointing experience and a waste of money. Go at your own risk.
