I have stayed here before. It's location near Tica Bus and close to the city Center are hard to beat.
The hostel is in a decent location. Fifteen minute walk to city center. Restaurant/bar attached, nice outdoor seating/smoking area (not part of restaurant). Staff was friendly. The room was a decent size. The room leaves much to be desired. It smelled musty the moment we walked in. One of the handles in the shower pulled completely off and had to just be stuck back on. The main room light is barely better than being off. You can hear all the city traffic very clearly from the room. The doorway into the room is very small (and I am not a large person). Not a terrible stay, but I wouldn't recommend for more than one night or so.
OK hostel, about 20 minutes out of the main centre which is walkable during the day. There is a decent outdoor area with a kitchen. There is a pool table in the common area and a restaurant attached to the hostel, which does average food. The major negative here is the staff, while trying to be helpful aren't very well trained and don't know what they are doing often. E.g. they lost our dorm key when we went out for dinner and we had to wait a half hour to get into our room when we got home.
Good price, clean hostel, and friendly staff. Be aware of the very early quiet hours and that there are no safe lockets unless you bring a padlock.
Was clean, easy to find, and very nice staff. Somewhat early quiet hours, but overall very good.
Hot water showers, cool interior design, cool people, tasty in-house restaurant!
Awesome experience! They’re a very quality accommodating hostel in a perfect location. Very genuine staff and affordable prices. Highly recommend :)
The receptionist wouldn't honor a $2 off coupon that he personally gave us less than a week prior. We left to get food and when we came back we had to ring the doorbell for ten straight mins because the only person working (the receptionist) was behind the building smoking weed. We were also required to make a $5 deposit that the same receptionist lost and it wasn't until I lost my cool that he "found" it. Avoid this place.
Good place to stay one night before leaving tp another place. The room was ok but bathroom was old and not cleaned. Staff is ok. Location is good. You can take a public bus from the airport and get out near Pizza Hut.
A nice, cheap hostel in San José
Stayed for one night at Aldea Hostel in a private room. The house looks really nice, I liked the interiour design and the wooden floors. Sadly the bathroom was quite old and the shower fossiled.
But the main problem was the guy at the reception: My boyfriend and I needed to catch a early bus to La Fortuna but we were not sure about the bus schedule so we kindly asked the young man at the reception. He gave us the wrong information, that the bus would leave at 9:00 am, when we arrived at the bus station they told us that the bus already had left at 8:40, minutes before we arrived and we had to wait for three hours for the next bus.
If I pay 45$ for a Hostel room without breakfast I expect the staff to be able to look up the bus schedule!
Nice clean hostel in a neighbourhood that felt safe. Really good huge lockers, comfy bunk beds, decent well equipped and clean kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very friendly and helpful stuff! Nice an comfortable rooms
Very clean and comfortable! Very friendly and helpful, with great amenities! Located near everything!
Great location, close to downtown San Jose. Very friendly and helpful staff
very clean and well located
Loved staying here. Very friendly and very helpful staff. They were also easy to comunicate with. I really appreciated the size of the locker. I could fit my whole backpack in there and still had room, so it was nice to just be able to leave it with my personal lock on it and go somewhere.
The beds were really comfy too. I passed right out on them. I also appreciate how clean and organized it was.
Great place near the buses if your starting out in San Jose.
I wasn't at this Hostel very long, but I really enjoyed my stay here those two nights.
Updated review Oktoberfest 2015
Great place I can back a couple of time now and this place is my home in San Jose. The area is 5 /10 minute walk tot the city center just one corner and a one road straight can't mis it. If it is your first visit in Costa Rica this I the place to set you up to find your good spots around the country. The staff who speak different languages very well, will help you out with everything you need support in to figure out. Really love this place for a lot of reasons but most it feels like home.

Nice enjoyable place with kind people to help you out.
Little noisy but what to do in almost the middle of the town.
I will come back here.
